Panda, glad you're at least halfway there. You deserve a cookie for that one. I kinda come at it from a Wiccan perspective. Not that I'm Wiccan, but the belief of the divine masculine and the divine feminine has always pretty much correlated with my spiritual experiences. I find that souls are androgynous, and that masculine and feminine energy isn't exactly picky about the genetailia. I have no problem being a cist white dude, but I could see why certain people have a hard time being treated as a gender and not as a person. Would I expect the world to conform to them? No, I'd probably keep it between friends. If a total stranger expects me to call them something other than the binary pronouns, it would take some getting used to, but I don't mind respecting the individual. Personally I think gender norms are where the problem lies, and if we treated people like humans before treating them like viable sex partners, that would probably clear up the need for that. Not to mention, there's a lot of people that dehumanize both men and women to begin with. So like if we humanized people first, and respected their personal space and free will, it's just that much easier to get into people sexually in a way that doesn't dehumanize or belittle them. That seems to be the jist of what every nonbinary person I've talked to actually wants from the world at least.

@gtechrepublic Feelings can be useful though. I dislike when people throw them away as being useless, when much of morality is based on how things feel to us. Empathy is a powerful emotion and is necessary to understand another human being. Why shouldn't I kick the puppy? No logical reason not to, aside from the fact that it would make me feel horrible. But this is becoming more of an ethics discussion than gender, just a small aside I suppose xD It's a much too popular misconception that emotions and feelings are detrimental or even useless. Can we agree that male and female in the context of sex is not something that we can categorize strictly? That it doesn't fall to genitals or appearance? If yes, I'd then ask why not use gender as a means of that categorization? Which does someone feel most akin to? (If no I'd have to reiterate my previous point) The notion that being sure of one's gender is simply a "feeling" is like saying that being gay is simply a "feeling". Why respect a gay man when he tells you what his preferences are, but not a transwoman? If you would look at a transwoman and say "you are biologically a man" I'd have to reiterate my previous point; that classifications for male or female are too varied to be of use, so gender is the best way to identify it. Then we could move on to whether gender is separate from sex, which I'd argue wholeheartedly that it is. Gender is purely a mixture of societal standards and psychological trends. Chemicals are involved in those trends (like women tend to be more socially capable) but even this varies from person to person. Sex and gender tend to correlate, but not always. It's a spectrum.

@daggerfella i take no stance with nonbinary people. iv never spoken to any and i know close to nothing about their community. regardless if they asked to be called 'they/them' i dont give two shits, ill respect their pronouns. its not hard, we already use they/them as an ambiguous/genderless pronoun. i once heard disregarding preferred pronouns like calling someone named sam 'samuel'. like, they ask you to call them sam, but you say samuel is on their birth certificate, so why should you call them sam? its the same stupid logic that is just used purely as an excuse to be a dick to someone. neo pronouns are dumb though, but those are just some larping kids, so to hate even those people is still silly. just seems to me that people wanna be dicks to other people, and this is an easy group to punch down on. theyr the new furries.

"Im a male but im going to express myself by shaving my head and wearing cute things, im totally not a man or woman" sounded pretty antagonistic toward nonbinary people, but poe's law i suppose
