Marxism IS predominant in the leftist think-tanks. But it has influenced even liberal lefties in some ways. Denying Marxism's importance in mainstream leftism and even in progressivism is slashing one's eyes...

The only form of communism that I will endorse is in the family unit with anarcho-communism. That shit isn't needed on the federal level, the system's still salvageable.

maybe i need to clarify im not a leftist, I'm a liberal i don't defend leftists, and i will agree that marxism is truly apart of their agenda and I'm not here for that liberals are the majority though, so you bringing up communism as if its a substantial ideology among LIBERALS, then your wrong. people tend mix liberal and leftist, myself included, so thought id make this distinction again, this is akin to be bringing up a nazi talking point to explain a right wing idea.

Liberal is a way more abrangent topic. Fine, you mean Liberal in the American sense, but I am way more broad. Liberalism is the current American system. It has separation of powers, freedom of speech, federalism and lack of a higher authority as the abstract ruler of a nation that watches us all. Most of the world's countries are Liberal Republics or Constitutional Monarchies (which are Liberal, too).

Like I said, still salvageable.

In the broader sense, both you and Panda are Liberals. You are progressive and has an easier time finding common ground with centre-leftists, because they endorse the same propositions you support.

I say the Left in general absorbed parts of Marxism, as it was the ideology of the Left's greatest pride since the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution. There is no current Left that will dissociate itself from Marxism. It might NOT be MARXIST, but it has some elements of it.

yeah, liberal in america is a conservative in Europe, but I'm still a staunch capitalist, i just think the market needs better regulation to protect the people as well as other small businesses i know that capitalism is cruel inherently, but I'm willing to accept that if it means America stays a strong and formidable country, which i think capitalism is essential to maintain

@momoichi As much as monarchy is a rightist ideology. Communism is no doubt a left ideology, so of course some of their ideas spread among modern left circles. I don't know why you are trying so hard to deny communism as a left ideology. Liberals are definitely not communists, but they do carry some socialist influence, in which socialism is still rooted in communism. Even in the communist manifesto Marx states that socialism is part of the transition to communism. The ideologies of the past, communism, fascism, monarchism, democracy, and others still have influence on our thinking today. To deny that just seems silly to me. I would hate to live in a total democracy, but I do like the idea of a representative republic. I would not deny that democracy has an influence on republics. o7

Naaah. A Liberal in the US is a Conservative/Right-wing in Latin America. In Europe, it would be the same thing. And it's even worse because Europe has much more distribution in its dominant cultures. A Portuguese Conservative isn't the same as an English Whig or a German Conservative.
