and i never understood the whole 'so states arent ignored;' states have senators and the house of representatives so why do we need the electoral college for them to be recognized? isn't it unfair that the popular vote, the voice of the population, is ignored in favor of these smaller states for seemingly no reason?

Yeah, it is unfair, maybe not by initial design but it's definitely being utilized in a less-than-chill way now. What's even crazier is the population per square foot of some of those over-represented states. Like I think Wyoming has a smaller population than Rhode island >_<

im just confused as to why states would be ignored when a president works federally, not locally look at flint, their water is toxic and people still don't give a shit I'm not fully educated on how the government systems work, but surely this makes no sense when you have senators to appeal to instead of the fucking president to worry about your bumfucknowhere town?
