Strawman! Thanks for correcting me!

Nah. Blacks in movies/gaming have the same power to fight adversity as a white man.
Said adversity must be decent, tho. Racism and sexism is a single comic worthy adversity to fight, or some minutes in a movie or just a single episode.
The prejudice trope is overused and has more exposition of what it actually deserves in art.
You are talking to someone whose one of their favorite heroes is Static Shock, a cool black hero. I grew watching him. He had episodes over school shootings and racism. But the difference he isn't a moody prick that repeatedly throws the prejudice card over those who underestimate him for whatever reason.

sargon! they don't need funding. the amount of cultural funding that cis het white men receive from society is staggering. existence is bizarre and life is difficult. it's hard to imagine otherwise. but when you are one or many or all of those privileged groups stated it clouds you from seeing just how much harder it can be when you *aren't* those things. whether you'd like to admit it or not, your frustrations with your fellow caste members (the peasant caste, mind you) stem from a centuries long indoctrination campaign to divide our large but poor caste from realizing our true potential. at least that's how i feel after a quarter-century of life. open to being corrected or convinced otherwise, however.

but wouldnt you say black men tend to have more of a struggle in life then white?
which is why I have to ask if you believe in systemic racism, because if you say no we can not even begin to have this conversation without first establishing that point xD

Depends on what you mean by systematic racism. If you mean the systematic racism that everything in the US is racist and it was founded on racism, no that is a total load of crap. You can't generalize the whole US as being racist since it can be completely different from area to area. My area of the US we get large numbers of immigrants from places such as Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya and I think there is a family from Comoros. In any case, they are generally held in high regard, almost never arrested for one reason or another. Hard workers, many have opened up their own businesses which I visit.
If you ask me do I think that there are local government municipalities that are racist and have racist policies, then yes. There are way too many policies in a lot of areas that make it extremely hard if not impossible for a Blacks to succeed by giving them opportunity.
@nebelstern
I think I kind of get what you are saying. There has been a lot of Mary Sue characters used to represent minority communities. For example Sigourney Weaver in the Alien series, she was feminine but at the same time capable of surviving by adapting to a situation on the fly. However she had a lot of help from the other characters, just like every other movie. The hero has other characters that save their ass, simply put you can't do it alone. Good example of a well written character in the 80s.
Then you have things like Batwoman, where Batwoman is this unassailable good character who doesn't need help from anybody and can't be defeated.

So you're a loyalist to the British empire, huh?
Sticking with American born leaders like Samuel Jackson!

@dyadka_yar so you would say that systemic racism in some capacity does exist? can you tell me your definition of that system and its effects on minorities?

Why are we all voting for old white men anyway? Can't we have a young pretty woman for president?
