https://youtu.be/LaDpGq1ndSk Currently watching. Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Thomas Massie (Ky.), and Ken Buck (Colo.). "If people are going to drain the swamp like the president wants to do, they need better information ... about how this place is broken," Massie says in the documentary. "And that's my mission in Congress." "'The Swamp' highlights how the prevalence of lobbyists and special interest groups in Washington can influence policy based on financial contributions ... how Congressmembers' ability to get key committee assignments depends on how much money they are able to bring in," a press release on the film said.

Pretty good so far. I didn't realize it was like a 2 hour documentary, but I stopped at the midway point. This guy, Gates, is a bit smarmy, but you can tell why he's a politician. He has the charisma for it. He does get a little combative but a lot of the things he says are fair. I'm more of a fan of one of the other guys they interview, Massie an R from KY. He's a MIT nerd that's not very popular because he doesn't play the lobbyist game. Something interesting he says is he thinks of Congress as the Death Star, it has the ability to make people happy or destroy them from one point in the world. Then he says Pelosi is Darth Vader because she's Speaker LOL. Ultimately, it explains what the Swamp is how the government has become corrupt; power shifted from serving the citizens to serving the lobbyists. Throw out an example from it: Gates points out that anywhere in their building Senators and Respresentatives are legally not allowed to ask for money anywhere in Congress except on the Congress floor. So before sessions begin, people walk around and some of the older (CAREER POLITICIANS *hiss*) leaders walk around and hand out cards. The cards say for $55,000 you can buy a seat to come to dinner. For whatever reason. So they basically have to whore themselves out if they want to climb in politics. Some play the game, some don't. The ones you don't hear about EVER in the news are likely the ones that don't play the swamp game. It also discusses bipartisan and how divided the nation has been voting in Congress since the 70s. Interesting. We are completely divided because of lobbyists. It also points out how the division between the two parties actually makes them money. It doesn't outright say it's because of the News/Journalists but it sure does edit it visually to say that.
