Society is people. They don't necessarily have to be the lawmakers. Lawmakers make stupid decisions all the time that people disagree with. What I am doing is breaking your argument down to a base form so I can follow it better.

The human body needs 20 different amino acids. Our bodies create 11 of them (these are called "non-essential amino acids"), but we must get the other 9 from food (essential amino acids). Animal proteins, such as meat, eggs, and milk, are complete proteins, meaning they provide all of the essential amino acids our body needs. Animal products provide the highest-quality protein sources.

its only a mind fuck if you get into metaethics, which you dont need to raping is bad we can agree on this without delving into where we derive our ethics and for the same reasons raping is bad (I'm not equivocating both, its simply the same line of reasoning) so is needlessly killing animals for pleasure

But we don't kill animals for pleasure and those that do are fucked in the head. You can compartmentalize these things. I don't fault my ancestors for running bison off cliffs because they were hungry and needed biproducts to survive hard winters.
