Anyone here like Japanese voice actors? I don't really have a favorite but the first voice actor I've ever liked is Aoi Shouta! What about you everyone?

I like both Japanese and English voice actors. But in terms of Japanese voice actors, I'd say Takahiro Sakurai, or probably Norio Wakamoto. Megumi Hayashibara's pretty great too though.

I'm pretty into seiyuu but I don't really care for English voice actors that much. My favorite seiyuu are: Shuichi Ikeda, Hikaru Midorikawa, Nobuyuki Hiyama, Tomokazu Seki, Takehito Koyasu, Mamoru Miyano, Yui Horie, Aoi Yuuki, and Saori Hayami. :u

@刹那・F・セイエイ I can respect that. English dubs for the most part can't compare to the original Japanese version. Especially when you look back in the old days with how many countless bad English dubs there have been. I believe it was around 2000 when English dubbing started getting better? I still, think that there are some very talented English voice actors though. It really depends... I usually think of Cowboy Bebop's dub, FMA, or the Studio Ghibli films when it comes to solid English dubs.

I like Kaji Yuki, Midorikawa Hikaru, Yusa Kouj, Sakurai Takahiro and Kamiya Hiroshi..So I listened to many BLCDs and otome CDs before and attempted to type the scripts out when enjoying those XD....That's why I can get 45/60 in listening comprehension section in N1, though I didn't make any preparations for the test..Also thanks to my interests in seiyuu, I joined wholesome communities and made acquaintances with many nice girls around my age..met up with a few of them~

Yeah, the main problem with English dubs is that not every anime can have a solid cast like Persona 4, Cowboy Bebop, or FMA's dub or more importantly have Studio Ghibli-level money allowing them to get actual Hollywood/high-profile voice actors to do the voice acting. I don't completely dismiss English dubs but yeah there's a clear difference if you compare the overall quality of the casting and direction even. I think another big problem with English dubs is that there isn't a huge effort made to localize things, make scripts sound natural for English speaking actors, and most importantly you see a lot of examples where the actor obviously doesn't really know what type of emotion they're going for and are just reading from a script without any detailed instruction from a director, kinda just winging it. The good dubs are more than likely good because they have that good director and localization to make things feel and sound natural
I've heard bad Japanese voice acting here and there, honestly usually the bad voice acting comes from like guest/cameo appearances in anime like a popular idol or singer appearing in something. Like Gackt in Gundam Seed Destiny for instance. He actually wasn't bad but his delivery was very hammy compared to everyone else since yeah, he's not a voice actor :u

Aye, I agree. The direction is usually what makes or break an English dub. Like the case with 4kids back in the day, it's notoriously hated by anime fans for butchering anime. It's funny pretty looking back, but yeah the amount of editing and changes they made with those dubs were pretty ridiculous and lacked common sense.
The ironic thing is that I actually like the 4kids voice actors. Dan Green, Veronica Taylor, Lisa Ortiz, and Ed Paul. They can actually act pretty well if given the right role. Like, there was this one anime dub I thought was amazing. "Now and then, Here and There." I don't know if anyone has seen it or remember it? But that dub used 4kids voice actors and they were all really good.
@Lamby I love Hynden Walch too! I actually had no idea that she was in Chalkzone though. Man that cartoon seriously brings me back...
Oh yeah also, I probably should list English voice actors that I do like since I didn't do so earlier.
Personal favorites of mine are: Grey Leslie, Laura Bailey, Frank Welker, Jim Cummings, Steve Blum, oh and Melissa Fahn. That's all that comes to mind so far.
