Drop it or keep watching, how do you decide?

I personally give it the 3 episode test. If it hooks me I'll finish it, or if I see some potential I'll go another episode or two. If I drop a series, I'll keep it in my watch-list. Then I'll keep up with people who are watching it to see if going back is worth it. So, how do you guys decide?

most animes ill give ep 1 to hook me, but for a popular anime ill give 3-6 depending how many episodes are out for mangas its usually half of the chapter, as if nothing hooks me there i know the rest will be trash

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to shows or anime. Especially if it's recommended to me by friends, so I like to give it at least 5 episodes and see if there's potential. Or if not I'll drop it. Though, it usually depends with some anime shows. Some anime I'll drop just by the first episode if I know it's not something I'd enjoy. Like for example, Kino's Journey was a highly recommend anime. But I honestly couldn't get into the first episode.

Kino's was an exception for me and a few others. I couldn't get through the second episodes. But I try real hard to make it to 3.

I have never dropped anything I picked up to be honest, if I start something I'm going to finish it more or less. so I don't bother with a 3 episode rule or anything, I'll put stuff on hold but never drop it

I rarely drop anything..but I often forget to finish them because of lack of time resulted from a variety of hobbies and real life. When I had much free time, I used "boring" anime/drama CDs as Japanese listening comprehension material..

Ive forgotten to finish many shows.. so much to watch and so little time! Often I'll watch a couple of episodes of a show based on how im feeling

I've had a few shows that have been postponed for a couple years now, and dropping shows happens on early in their airing. But if a show is so bad it's funny, I will truck it out and watch the whole thing just because.
