What has your experience with this site been like?

Lol. Hmm, sometimes I wish there was an option to only allow certain types of people from adding you or trying to talk to you. I think many members don't like being friends w/ minors. Also I've run into many members who prefer to only talk to girls. Some options like these and others would be helpful in finding people who just want to be buds or the like. But I guess that would be asking too much of people, since it could take a while to create an account then. Also, just plain freedom to do as you please is generally much more preferable to the major community. Oh man, my thoughts are traveling, so I'll end this here.

My experience here has been interesting since it is the first time I use social media or something similar. On the other hand I have been able to see different points of view of how to interact with other people which will help me in my personal development. I like to learn so its good to try new things

Suffice to say, the selection of females local to where I live is nonexistent. And while I try to do my part to build a hospitable environment on this site (Thankfully, I am one of several who makes the effort), I don't think this site is anywhere close to what we need to balance the gender ratios, which is a shame considering how many single otaku women actually exist and want to give dating a chance. Gentlemen? Stahp dickpic spamming people and asking for noods, ye thirsty sloths! You're driving them crazy! (Of course I know that message will never reach the people who only talk through PM, and only address those of the opposite sex, so I'm wasting my breath here.) We don't have to replicate creepy text theatre here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdVFbrdHAJQ Also, don't confuse this with my personal politics, but it would help if we stop bashing SJWs feminists, and Libs, since I know from experience of recommending girls to this site, that that's one of the first things that turns them away. Even the A-political ones. It's bad form, and worse signaling. Women pay attention to how men treat others after all. And if you're too busy trying to find every excuse to blame others for your problems, that kinda shows a lack of self awareness. Likewise, I think most of us here are good people at heart. We do need to do a better job at putting our best feet forward with people though. As in... Well, you know. Put in the work. Be better men. Because like Hanabanana eluded to, another thing I hear a lot about from girls is, depending on the location, the selection of guys is... Not really the best. One trick to keeping women here is to make sure they find what they are looking for. This is an anime dating site, not a 4chan dating site. Okay, sociological observation out of the way, my experience here is mostly a casual one. It provides me a chance to talk to and swap memes with fellow otaku from all over the world, and engage in some interesting conversations. I value many of the friendships and connections I have forged here.

@Enki That's basically how I've been utilizing this site, sending long back-and-forth messages with the people I get along well with, and just opting out of all the other noise. Kind of a shame though, since I'm usually the type of person to participate in online discussions. But when the first page of the "Serious Talk" forum has topics that begin with phrases like "White Knight Syndrome", "Let's ban so-and-so from MO", and "Do Girls Fart", I honestly wonder what the hell I am wasting my time here for lol. If that is the emotional maturity of the people on this site, it's safe to say I'm fairly screwed lol. And yeah, it makes me laugh sometimes, but mostly I just want to beat my head against the wall and cry rofl.

I've been here for past 4 years now - could be 5 but shhh! My experience of MO has been really great - met some wonderful folk here, I don't feel so lonely anymore because of that and I've had success when it comes to the dating side of things but nothing that has lasted, at least not yet. But otherwise I'm happy just chatting and making friends here. Well when I or they have the time to chat - sometimes me and other friends are busy or pre-occupied with other things that it can sometimes take days or weeks to respond D: But the most patient people make the best friends and I pride myself on patience being a virtue. I have met a few bad eggs from here though but I know when to get rid of people.
