Figured out the problem. The mic isn't working on them so eventually, they will need to be replaced, but if the sound works that's all I'm happy about.
Let's just say my volume has been max at 35% for the last month and I've thought Windows fucked me, that I'm going deaf, you know... the usual thoughts one has when their sound starts to diminish.
