Fuck it. Parts of California are on fire. We need the hands. Rather than detain and deport (Which costs a lot of money), maybe we should invest in them instead. What if we got them documented, on the radar, and paying taxes? Since we can't get the financial elite to stop exploiting tax loopholes, it would sure help relieve the burden on the rest of us, and create a boom for the economy. Get some of them helping to contain and control those fires, get some of them construction and infrastructure jobs to help rebuild the places that were hit the strongest, and get some of them forestry jobs. The rest? Well, there's hundreds of thousands of jobs all around the country that nobody is taking and need to be filled.

Sure, why not? What's the harm? And if it were your emotions I were trying to appeal to, I'd come up with some sob story about whatever drove them to seek american asylum in the first place. This is me trying to be practical. We have two problems at our front doorstep, and one of which can be channeled to help fix another. Another way to frame it? Make them earn citizenship.

you already came up with a sob story, aka california being on fire and needing help and all that jazz. the US already has a way to earn citizenship so throwing out green cards like candy for putting out fires would be incredibly unfair for those who had to go through the entire process legitimately. its a harmful suggestion because it sets a bad precedent in regards to naturalization
