Therapist VS. Counselor VS. Psychologist

I've used a therapist and counselor, but felt they were useless and had a marathon of questions. They were female as well. My mother is thinking a male psychologist would do better. I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

If you feel like you would be more open talking to a male psychologist, it might be worth a go. Any psychologist is going to have a marathon of questions for you when you first visit. So how much you're okay with sharing is going to dictate how much help you'll get in response.

@teacup, just hit ctrl z or hit forward, im pretty sure mai saves your comments if you click off the thread aslong as you go back or forward (its happened to me many a time) personally i prefered therapists of the same gender as i feel like i can open up better, but it really depends on your preference and the therapist themself i suppose if your switching therapists it wouldnt hurt to try someone else, especially if you just couldn't open up to the others iv had horrible experiences with therapists from assuming i wanted to kill myself because i slept around (just because i had scratched up knees, fucking pervert) to asking mid session how we were going to pay. iv personally had trouble with therapists of both genders, but female was just easier to open up to, so it truly depends on the personality your looking for in a confidant also that shit aint cheap, so be sure to find the best one for you goodluck, space cowboy

Depends on what you need. I think a Psychologsit would be the same, they're not qualified to give prescriptions unless they are a psychiatrist too. It really depends if you are match with a person. Sometimes a friend or a family member would be better to talk too.
