Sexuality 25yrs ago vs now

loli_vampire
When I was in my late teens to early 20s at the end of the 90s all the people around my age and younger were so into sex, I even knew multiple couples boasting about having sex like 5 times a day and such even to the point of having to go to the hospital for physical damage. It's like everyone I knew was hypersexual. These days it seems like most of the girls I meet who are under 30 or younger are just not that into sex and even many guys too. Not everyone of course, just a huge number. Seems like so many people identify as asexual anymore or simply can't find anyone IRL that interests them. Why do you think that is?

I think it’s because a lot of the modern relationships are online/long distance and couples can endure not having sexual intimacy or whatever this is only a spectulation for probably a small # of people

What saeko said - it definitely seems like people can easily hold off on it these days; I mean I have a lot of times where I get incredibly racey but I've also had moments where I'm just not interested in sex at all and would rather spend my time doing other things instead. I'm always open to the topic of boobs regardless though!

Lack of sexual desire is a disease.... well so is wanting it to much... sooooo i guess both ends of the issue are diseases that require therapy and medication. Also what Cero quoted

I think the reason is the extremes of how sexual content is nowdays portrayed. Games, tv, movies etc are still very much old style in terms of this in comparison to violence. It is being avoided and teased only. A few large games and HBO series go further but they are rare cases in a sense. Because of this people get annoyed by the teasing / lack of it so they go to the other extreme of what the internet provides in bundles and free. As a result finding the balance is difficult and thus people don't go out there to look others in that sense so much anymore. 20+ years ago we did not have the net at all or widespread/fast so other people were what people turned to. There is also a reason in the isolation/single trend of the modern life. Away from being together, difficulty of interacting with similar minded people due to increased amounts of hobbies and in a sense the loss of reason in understanding interactions between people (men avoiding women due to all of the social media trends etc and vice versa). There are multiple factors and internet / global understanding / more information could be contributed as the major influences. As they say: ignorance is bliss.

People's standards are skewed because of social media.

Not saying that the internet is bad. It is a source and wealth of information, a way to expand yourself, to find a new purpose or hobby, to find like minded people etc. It's just that it provides a unique challenge that previous generations have not had. No technology or innovation is bad in a sense. The way how it is used is up to each individual or coverment etc. So good things can be distorted for negative use and initially bad things could find the most useful and world saving purpose. It's up to us how we handle things which is in the end an unfortunate evidence how immature we are as a whole when you see certain trends happening even with the abundance of information. We all fall for this in small or large ways, myself included as we are human. Just hoping for a better future and trying to be a better person after each plunder.

Finding the balance is a eternal battle which is why so many beliefs try to find it in their teachings. And this balance is tied to sexuality too. One point humanity was animalistic, another time we became reserved, in the 60s to 90s things became open in the opposite side of the pendulum and now we are on the reserved side again in a sense but for different reasons.
