Is it bad to be an anime fan or an otaku when it comes to being in a relationship?

Some people tell me that it's hard to find a relationship when being a anime fan or a manga fan when it comes to getting a relationship where you have similar interest with someone that does not like anime or Manga. I'm not one of those people that try to be something that I'm not and it truly is hard where people say that sometime I like anime and manga it will be hard to find someone that likes the same things and won't judge me for it. So how do I handle the situation accordingly as I know that people have different taste but what is the best idea to find someone of that caliber and not just give up on who you are just so you end up with somebody as I don't feel that's the right idea to just do it.

It goes without saying that in order to have a working relationship you need to have common interests or similar ideologies to each other at least, obviously in a relationship if your significant other has something against your anime watching then it's fine as long as they don't try forcing their opinions on the matter down your throat; just date someone that has similar interests to you or/and similar ideologies otherwise the relationship will not work.

Anime is mainstream. At this point it's harder for me to see a lady my age that doesn't have at least 1 anime or cartoon they enjoy

Better yet, just find someone with whom you can enjoy mutual activities and be as open to trying something new as you expect of them. I brought out the anime early on when me and my wife were just dating, either she would like it or she wouldn't, but she gave it a chance and actually liked what we were watching. Either way, it was never a deal breaker if any woman didn't like anime, I'd still watch and if she enjoyed, it was always a bonus.
