I know what a "normie" is and you, all of you ARE normal. You have an interest in cartoons(Let's get real, a cartoon by any other name is still a cartoon.)? Awesome. Some people love sports. You like cons? Great, some people like stadiums. Point being, it's not some sort of way out there thing, anime is becoming way more mainstream than ever. However, limiting your search by wanting only one type of person and wondering why "normies"(as you put it) seem to be finding mates, that's nobody's fault but your own. The problem, I think, is when there's an obsession to the point the life PRIORITIES get pushed to the side in lieu of something that truly is not beneficial for personal growth. Obsession can be for absolutely anything and obsession is NEVER a good thing, ever. Trying to classify people as "normies" or not, that sounds like something a teen would do. Look for whom ever you want, but understand that you're not as special or unique as you believe. Most live pretty "normal" lives. And, end rant.

I can see where you are coming from. I got out of a toxic relationship earlier this year. My ex really pissed me off and just wouldn't accept me for who the hell I am as a person. She told me to get off anime and grow up. People who try to change you to get with you don't deserve you at all. It's completely disrespectful.

No.
I think your problem is being in the States. Dating in the US is specifically designed to be soul-crushing and make you feel excluded, so you funnel more money into things like fad-diets, expensive clothes, college debt, fancy dinners, presents, etc. You're in this never ending battle to catch, and hold on to someone, because Americans are trained to be, for the most part, extremely shallow in the world of romance, with utterly unrealistic standards.

I think there is a bit of truth to the phrase "the couple that plays together, stays together." Most activities in the gaming/anime/scifi/comic fall under the broader "geek" umbrella and are pretty interchangeable with one another.
I think for some it's tough to find like minded people. At least until you get out of high school and potentially go to college. I grew up in an extremely small town in the middle of bum-fuck-nowhere WI and I think I knew one other person in grade school who even knew what anime was at the time.
It helps to have an anime club at your school and branch out and attend events and cons, but even at those places it can be pretty trickly to cold turkey approach someone and introduce yourself without it being potentially awkward for some.
I will say its easier to find like minded people in this arena than it was 15 to 20 years ago (old man "back in my day" rant) but the pressures of dating haven't gotten any easier overall.

no its not. But you should keep it secret until you get a hint they might be into anime too or at least dont mind it. it can stear alot of ppl away. some normies cant conform to it or frown upon ppl who like it. Though be true to yourself. if they dont like who you are, there probly not the right person for you anyway. Just take it slow and let them warm up to your intrests and youll probly be ok.
