Most toxic fandoms in anime

As a kid, anime was just looked at as a cartoon and the term "anime" wasn't widely known till the late 90s. Shortly after that when Internet and smartphones greatly improved, anime fandom became not only a joyful time, but also a wrecking havoc. Other than anime and manga, other fandoms suffer the same way.

If we're talking outside of anime when it comes to fandom I would have to go with the Harry Potter fandom and even the Dragon Ball Z fandom plus Naruto so many people nowadays make any single anime character either sexual or a mixed breed it just kills the animated self and makes the Creator's cringe unless the Creator is a fan of sexual art.

Narutards and gaiafags were always the most cringy and annoying people back in the day who made it embarrassing to admit to liking anime. Then there's the tumbler and deviant art crowd which produce some real horrible stuff.

Honestly I have found myself cringing at and/or not wanting to be associated with a lot of fandoms when it comes to anime over the years. Though I'd say elitists and self proclaimed "anime critics". Especially the ones who feel the need to trash anime that doesn't meet their standards of what makes a 'good' anime are always the ones that make me groan and roll my eyes. Not for their criticism of course, everyone is entitled to their opinions. It's just that they're almost always the "A mature and intelligent individual such as myself can only enjoy dark and mature anime"-types. It's almost like they're trying to compensate for the fact that they're ashamed of watching chinese cartoons or something. :u

A fanbase doesn't turn to shit until it reaches tumblr or reddit so I'm going to say it's less about the show and more about the website and people. In tumblr's case, it can get legitimately harmful and in reddit's case it can cause retards to storm a McDonalds for nugget sauce, jump on the counter yelling Pickle Rick,and ultimately result in somebody getting stabbed. People can taint literally anything and if you wanna see how far some people will take it then go research "The Final Fantasy House", and "The Sarah Saga"
