Someone challenged me once to find something funny that wasn't rooted in the misfortunes of something or someone. I couldn't come up with anything. That's the nature of comedy. To laugh at things that would otherwise be bad, misfortunate, uncomfortable. It's a natural reaction to laugh at those sort of things.
