RACISM

napalmamaterasu
By the way Exhibit A good luck running a "Racism" or "Bigotry" charge through a criminal court for those "racists who don't know they are racists" ... let me know how that goes :) Civil Court .... mayyybeh? There I go speaking "thing" again or some foreign language (you know because the legal system is such a foreign language) Protip: if you're going to try to play forum lawyer (or legislator) - have a practical understanding of our legal system first #StareDecisis

being racist/prejudiced isnt actually a crime in america unless its in the workplace or a government facility of some sort (welfare office, courthouse, etc), so no. nothing should be forced upon someone who holds such views. if people want to take matters into their own hands thats their deal, but theyll have to also put up with consequences of their actions ps: a hate crime is a completely different thing than simply being prejudiced towards somebody.

So, to you, there's a difference between being prejudice & being racist?

people can be discriminated on other grounds you know, such as sexual orientation, religion, disabilities or whatever. its not limited to just racism. so yes there actually is a difference. racism is just the term for being prejudiced against someone because of their race

Actually those are two different things. They can become the same but they are fundamentally different by their definition even according to Google.

Being prejudices against certain or all races is being racist. But whether or not you act out on in is where the line between legal and illegal is drawn.

I think what she was trying to say is that prejudice itself is not racist unless it's Prejudice against a race, just being Prejudice does not mean you are a racist because you can be prejudice but not have anything against any race ie you can be prejudice against something but it doesn't have to be race.

Is not a current thought/theory that only white people can be racist, since being white is a form of power. Whereas all other races can be prejudice against white, but not racist, since they do not have that same power? Not saying I agree or disagree, just stating what I've seen posted.

I've explained the difference between the two in some greater detail at least once or twice around here. Basically with prejudice (alone) one isn't actively doing that much against in this case a particular race. Through ignorance, negative exposure (without balancing amount of positive exposure), putting too much credence to stereotypes, and similar behaviors. Decent chance if someone is prejudiced against a certain race they'll be about equally as likely to avoid people of that race instead of acting in some hurtful or antagonizing nature. We're so brainwashed into thinking everything is strong, systemic, hate through every blood vessel and vein racism that there is no other alternative or lesser possibility. To be a racist you basically do need prejudice but prejudice is only one symptom of a racist. Think of it like this.... you can have flu-like symptoms without having a full blown flu - same thing applies with prejudice and racism Further more a "racism" charge in the American court system is infeasible as fuck and would be one asinine precedent to set because of what could conceivably come after that. To some (debatable) extent there are already laws in place to protect against these things and to punish those who act in a racist manner in certain situations.
