Cujo,
That's not the same type of "humor". I fully understood op's original intent, but it's not what it seems if you actually read. I in no way defend or think someone deserves special attention because of a circumstance they put themselves into. However, it's more complicated than just saying "put that Twinkie down, fatty".

Cujo,
I'm sorry, "sweetie", but where am I defending obesity? (Calling someone sweetie can be misconstrued as a bit demeaning. Just thought I'd emphasize.;)) I know it's a horrible epidemic, I'm not blind nor stupid. But, there's a way to approach things where your message gets across without being aggressive or demeaning. Tactics, such as in this thread, don't work and do more to cause an issue than solve. This was spawned by someone who made it blatantly clear that he despises "fat people"(With a bit of a superiority complex...Well, when you count other threads...) , sees "them" as a blight and a joke. Now, again, "sweetie", where am I personally defending or encouraging coddling? I'm simply put off by those who attack the individual rather than the root cause, of which there are MANY. I mean, should I yell at someone for being obese or should I try to see why they're doing what their doing and encourage them to change? I grew up with a dad who constantly reminded me that I was fat. Do you think that helped me? Fuck no, if anything (combined with depression) it not only helped to destroy my confidence, it made me feel like and believe I was worthless. So, no, taking an extremely aggressive approach DOES NOT HELP. I've since gone from 260 down to around 195 and at this point, I don't give a shit what another thinks about me personally. Also, yeah, anti smoking adds are aggressive and rightfully so. But, tell me the last time you saw one making cancer, tooth loss, gum disease, asthma, emphysema...etc caused by smoking into a joke? Also, not all fat people stink. Maybe you just have bad taste.;P(A joking jab there.:))
The main point for op was to stir the pot, he's done it before.

I was just commenting on this particular thread out of boredom. OP is a bit extreme with how he says things, but I do understand and somewhat agree with what he says, just not how.

Guidance was what I was trying to do when I tried encouraging him to stop telling people to kill themselves. Look how it turned out. ^_^

I think it's unfair to compare harsh smoking PSAs to obesity. People arn't born with an inclination to have black lungs. If you had watched the video yass posted here you would see that there are a variety of genetic factors that make it much harder for some people to stay in shape than others. There is a line between having a joke thread and having a thread that makes fun of fat people and makes them feel bad. Its like a kid poking fun at fat kids on the playground. It aggravates me when people are put down. Telling somebody to just "take a joke" is bullshit. That's just an excuse bullies use. I gave a kid on the playground a bloody nose for trying to use that excuse on me.

Sweetie, you've been here all of five minutes and haven't read anything but what's transpired over the last couple days. I could give a rats ass if you befriend him. All the more entertaining later when he says something that pisses you off. lol

Sounds like a thread made out of pure boredom or anxiety to make your self feel better about your own insecurities, let each person deal with their own bodies. When it comes to giving advice or worrying, it should be their family and friends doing so, not you. Surely everyone knows that genetics play a part in making it harder for some people to slim down so no need to judge if you don't know what it's like.
