Should you talk to people before sending friend requests?

Most of the time I completely forgot I sent people friend requests usually because I do quick check ins throughout the day so I tend to forget to say hi half of the time. But my advice is never expect people to talk to you even when you send them a friend request, just take the initiative and say to them first - that's what I do.

No. I don't know why so many people don't think it's alright. So damn political with everything on these types of forums.

I send friends requests to people regardless of whether I've talked to them previously or not. I'll be friends with anyone, the more interesting people to talk to the better I always say.

Due to the issues on here and all forums of the world with trolls or people that maintain multiple accounts. I am now very selective to whom I add. In the last few days I have deleted about 30 people because either A. they do not talk to me, B. they do not post on the forums, C. they have never once messaged me. I don't know why they added me??? --- there's no point in them being there. But I also delete anyone who I find suspicious and think it could be a second/third/forth account.

Too many people who don't talk to me beforehand,or won't speak to me after accepting the request or stops talking to me or expects me to always initiate conversation are the ones always sending me requests. So I just removed ppl from my friend list/deny friend requests. If you're going to send me a friend request please make an effort to talk to me before hand and after accepting the request. If you only want to raise your friend count, please don't come my way. Thanks.

Well you are an acquaintance so yeah.

Depends what you want your friend list to be made up of. If you want to be very selective on who is in your friend's list, then yeah I'd say talk to the person first. If you don't mind having a few random (or a lot since not everyone will talk to you or respond to your messages) people in your friend's list, then adding whoever you want is fine imo

Meh..I don't care...I'll send or accept most requests...isn't gonna hurt me...so why not?
