It's a pretty heavy and dark topic nonetheless. Still I think a lot of peoplehave had these thoughts. And personally I think it would help them talking about it either professionally or here as long as it helps them.

^ There are meaner ppl around here who'll generalize and think you're weak, selfish, attention whoring etc. when they clearly never experienced these kinds of feelings. I'm surprised, they along the trolls haven't flooded this topic yet.

I've suffered from depression since I was in my teens. What stops me from committing suicide? I know it would affect my parents in a really bad way. It would bring shame on them leading them to believe that they raised me wrong. I also have a supremely high tolerance for isolation that I built up over the years which helps. I hope you continuously try and tough it out. Thick skin takes a while to build up, but it happens. I'm not the one who's in a position to give sound advice, but for me, if you don't expect much out of life, you're not going to be very disappointed. Just keep appreciating the small things in life and before you know it tomorrow is already there.

A little late and I might get some flak for this, but this is how I see it. Many people make a huge deal about how life is a gift and you shouldn't even consider killing yourself, but in my eyes life isn't a gift, its something that without your choice your just thrown into. Your life could be terrible and you could hate it but there's always people that say things along the lines of it will get better, but what if I don't want to suffer for 20 years for it to get better? What if its never going to get better at all? Then there are people who try to make you feel even worse for considering it just because your life isn't as bad as other. Than you end up feeling even worse because their making you feel like shit, but you start wavering because you think your life has to be the absolute most horrible to even consider something like that. Just my quick jumbled up thoughts on the matter.

they are jumbled, but not without cause i can sympathize with you, or your thoughts at least

I appreciate how you first approached the subject objectively. I have contemplated this as well and had my own personal struggles with depression and thoughts of suicide. I won't get into that, but rather share something else. I am actually for people's personal choice to self terminate. WITH limitations of course. And I hope people do not misunderstand, because I still believe suicide is a tragedy. I just try to empathize with a person's decision to do so rather than judge. Nothing irritates me more than hearing someone talk about a person who killed theirself and then calling them a coward, weak, or selfish. I think it's not a black and white thing. I think if you are responsible for other people or have children you should first put them before yourself unless you conclude your raising them would be a far worse detriment to their growing up than relatives, friends, and in worst case scenario strangers. There is no real method to measure a person's emotions and whether one person's pains are more severe than another's. Example: I've had a six month relationship that took 2 years + to get over compared to countless people I know who have divorced and either got into another serious relationship or married another person in a fraction of the time it took me to bounce back from that one relationship. Some people cope better than others. I think you should explore alternatives before deciding to terminate. If you can't find anyone close to you to help this community is bustling with people who would listen if you just reach out in those dark moments. Like I said before, suicide is always a tragedy. Stay strong, make life your bitch and battle it out.

I'll just keep it short and simple based on my beliefs. The ultimate purpose of life is to learn and accept what cannot be changed. Learning is not just about opening up a book. You learn something new everyday ranging from what you have experienced for that day and what others have experienced from conversing with them. Therefore, your objective is continuous human improvement. Suicide cuts your mission prematurely and your spirit will want to remain in this world until your mission is complete. Thus, you become a ghost. So live for yourself and have some fun. Also, sarcasm helps a lot when dealing with ignorant or difficult people. And there sure are a lot of those around lol...
