I don't get why people get a free pass at being dicks/crass just because they're seen as le funny trolls. That shit just enables toxic behavior which "scares" away new members from a community/site and makes some regulars leave it as well.

Doctors are glorified medics who are overpaid. Their degrees do not equate that they are actually decent human beings; their degrees mean they had the ability to go to school an extra 8-12 more years than the average high school grad and they were trained to do a job that takes 8-12 more years of education. Nothing more. Some of them are great, don't get me wrong. But if they took their hypocratic oaths more seriously, they wouldn't be getting paid that amount. One of the reasons why healthcare is so expensive in the US is because your precious Hospital and Emergency Medicine doctors are making anywhere from $170-$300+ an hour depending on the volume of the facility they work at.

Not to mention, you're paying like $50 for an aspirin. Hell, my *ahem "medical stent" would've been EASILY in the tens of thousands. Could've gone to an awesome hotel and had a great vacation, instead.

That's not even the amounts the doctors get paid for LOCUMS work. That's where it's a hard to staff facility and they call someone in New York to come work down in Mississippi because they are a gun for hire. Those people make anywhere from $400-500 an hour.

Yeah, I get it. You're helping people and saving lives. It's just that at some point it becomes kind of like why canned air is so expensive, it's because they know you need it.

The hospitals are sort of forced to do it nowadays considering the cost of everything. Insurance companies charge them up the ass for to be on the hospital's system. Medicare and medicaid technically cover a lot of costs for the person covered, but don't pay the hospital rates high enough to even keep them running. Doctors are generally overpaid to the point where a simple physician can make around $100 an hour which does not include any sort of testing or materials used. This is a little more than twice what I used to make to tell people they're too fat. And yes I was called fat because 230lbs at 6' tall is just barely obese on the BMI chart, she also confused HGH supplements that I am taking with HCG which is a hormone present during pregnancy. If we got rid of medicare, medicaid, insurance as well as have physicians not cost an assload of money we would be looking at some pretty good rates. I mean back in 1929 my grandmother was born and her family paid $15 to deliver her, and the doctor came to the house. Back in 1929 this would have been equivalent to around $230 or something. Checkups were generally $5 which are equivalent to $75 now. So chances are that these are the rates that we should be paying, we just need to get leverage against insurance companies and government programs.

I can't stand talking to doctors who are only interested in money. It just reinforces how shitty things are right now for common people. Occupational hazard.
