What is the 1st anime you watched that turned you into an Otaku??

I grew up watching DBZ and Pokemon, but it wasnt until I saw Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex that I think I started getting into it more. Also should be mentioned is my first (and all subsequent) watch of Princess Mononoke was in Japanese which got me into sub, but also was a further realization that anime could not be related to (childish) American cartoons
