I have tried PoF and OKCupid but nothing has happened with either. I figure this is the only website where people generally talk back too each other and have a general positive outlook on actually trying to find a romance or partner. Keep at it and enjoy this site for the many things it is. From finding that soul mate to finding a friend who will watch anime with you. Enjoy each other and enjoy life.

I hear you man. I tried Okcupid too. I was annoyed that girls there are not even polite enough to respond. Most of the matches I had were intellectual but come on even if you are not interested is good manners to at least politely decline. What is wrong with some people today. At least here people talk. I think that's ironic because otaku are usually the quite ones lol. Maybe we are nicer people lol maybe.

If this site became more popular and also included a better match making system it would be ideal. Alot of people are generally nice but I have not heard of many people from here getting together.

It will get there some day. I think the creators need to get panels at cons to get them selves out there. Once they do that. I am sure the numbers will grow. And the matching is not important. What's important is that people talk to each other and get to know each other the old fashion way. That's the only way people ever get together.

I agree with you, huogir and Endlessknight. MaiOtaku may not be busy, but I am drawn to the quality of its members. But...I think the 'old fashion way' of getting to know each other is (correct me if I'm wrong) face-to-face! I have actually seen a person on here (after I invited her) at a con a couple of weeks ago. We didn't talk much or hang out, so I guess some people really are just shy or aren't interested in meeting others.

It's hard to find someone to accept your nerdy habits without themselves having nerdy like tendencies. I mean we all don't just keep it to strictly a anime or manga hobby it spans to either webcomics, videos games, table top, larping, role playing, playing card games, fan fiction, and etc etc etc. I mean it's just not too mainstream these days I mean getting your girlfriend to play video games is one thing but truely getting them just a tid bit excited into anime or manga is hard to do I'm sure. I don't know but I believe with a chat room system, more members, and people actively truely seeking eachother it'd make Maiotaku an amazing site.

Fullmetal I think that's normal most of the people here need practice with face to face meetings the fact that she actually met with you i think was a big step. The more people do it the more they will start to open up. I my self have a hard time with face to face meetings. Although this last con I went to. I talked to a few people even talked to other otaku on The train. I could have made them friends but I still not there but as far as practice it was a good start. You have to remember some of us are not so good at being social. Anyone going to otakon?

No I strictly stick to Texas based cons currently. At cons and in life I generally will have random conversations with people. At a previous con I was diving in front of groups of people to begin a conversation. :p

Yeah...OkC and PoF may be more popular and user-friendly, but most of the people on there are total d-bags. I mean, at least have some courtesy, but I guess that's asking too much. I would be more active on here if other members in my area were too. Guess it goes back to the whole "if MO adds this, this and this, it'll be better, etc, etc." Funny PoF story when I signed up a couple weeks ago: One of my Xbox friends tells me to sign up for it since his boss told him about it and he met his girlfriend on there (who I can say is actually really nice). My very first search I put in (I must not have filled stuff out right or I did it all wrong), most of my results were single moms around my age or younger. My first reaction was "WTF Jimmy!?!?! You said this site was good. All I'm getting are single moms..." We had some good laughs about that all night.
