Dissatisfied with your artwork?

stellalina
Have any of you ever felt like..Not that you don't like your HATE your artwork but that your just not satisfied with it. And you try to draw but nothing comes out good or anything and you feel even worst. Then you go compare yourself to others and wish you could have their skill or get upset with yourself and frustrated because you wish you knew how they could do such amazing artwork? Then you beat yourself up over it. Am I the only one that goes threw this lol? I know It's a form of art block but I don't like the feeling that I'm not satisfied with my own artwork..

The gap between your skill and your taste. https://vimeo.com/85040589 You just have to keep at it. Anyone who practices any kind of skill, has to realize that you are going to suck when you start and for a long time after.

I'm pretty sure most artists won't come out and say: I'm happy at the level of mastery I'm at - that there's nothing else for me to learn how to do. If you're not feeling that sensation that your work could be just a little bit better, then the art you produce will stop growing in quality. If there were a magical way that would instantly make it so I could create anything that came to mind with little or no effort, I wouldn't want it. I want those imperfect artworks so I can say: Yeah, I didn't do as good on that last piece, but next time, I'm gonna do something so much better.

If your goal is to become the best at something, you'll never be satisfied.

True. I don't think I'm mad per se, just not that good. I do admit that don't it's just a hobby, I don't really have any urge for improvement.

You should always feel dissatisfied, never conform and think it's good or else you'll never improve!

A lot of artists are never really satisfied with their work but they still keep it and then months or years later, go back to it and then work on it again. It is usually a lot better after that too. The beauty of art: you can go back and fix it.
