can someone teach me some japanese?

Some have the same meaning as Chinese, or similar meanings, but also some can have really different meanings... Then I think with the various pronunciations there's usually one that sounds a bit like the Chinese pronunciation... but it can also sound really different. Kind of like how some words in English sound similar to other European languages, but not exact. Like "Du" for "You". So it is still a whole another language. I do think knowing Chinese is somewhat beneficial to learning Japanese and vice-versa, though, for the Kanji. You still have to relearn it all however, but will be easier to recognize and write them. XD Of course if you don't know Chinese, then just learning Japanese from English is fine too, and still not hard.

Alright awesome I won't have to learn how to read and write in japanese kind of. Speaking is an entirely new thing though >.<

Language books kind of are useless if you don't know how to pronounce the characters of the alphabet, just letting you know that, unless you just want to suck in grammar and get a purely visual feel for it. You should google japanese courses free online, there are some, believe it or not. Not professional all the time, but still, it's free, and you really just need a push in the right direction. I plan to learn Japanese, too, soon. Good luck, m8

A dictionary can help but you still need to know the basic grammar, sentence structure and conjugations of both adjectives and verbs.
