Otaku Lives Matter

dragonlord1975
I recently read on Cop Block's Facebook page that a cosplayer named Darrien Hunt was shot by police in Saratoga Springs, UT because he was carrying a sword. Hunt was cosplaying as Mugen from "Samurai Champloo" to impress his job interviewers at a nearby Panda Express when police confronted him and shot him. White nationalist police states have targeted everyone, but now they're going after otakus, too. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they go after Trigun or Bleach cosplayers next! The family has filed a multi-billion dollar 2nd Amendment and Civil Rights lawsuit against the police and they hope to get justice soon. This hurt me as an otaku to find out that the police are now targeting them. #RIPDarrienHunt #OtakuLivesMatter

I know one shouldn't speak ill of the dead, but why exactly did he think cosplaying for a job interview would impress them?

Lol moar like need to educate cops of how to handle people with weapon scenarios better. But would interesting scenario if cops specifically went after otakus, I'd buy some skates and spray cans.

Sounds like applecaeks understands the concept.

Exactly, cops seem to need more training in general. Not too long ago there was a story of cops tazing a 70 pound 7 year old with a knife. FOUR COPS and one was a negotiation specialist! Yet they tazed this girl... "what do we do bruh" "she could kill us all better crank up the voltage" Not surprised that they are gunning more people down. It's terrible.

Okay so, I have some history with cops while cosplaying! I was dressed as Squall from Final Fantasy 8. Becuase of the full metal DULLED EDGE Gunblade I was confronted. Two cops had me cornered and telling me to PUT THE GUN DOWN! I was telling them "it's not a gun" and "not even sharp" when suddenly TAZER! Oh, but here's the best part! I didn't go down, both prongs dug in and the shock went through me but I conduct electricity really well so I kept up and grabbed the cords and tore them from my back. (most badass moment of my life) Tazer cop took steps back and his buddy has his gun trained on my head but his hands are shaking bad. I realise these guys are shitting themselves! I stab the gunblade into the ground, go to my knees and hands behind my head. I get locked up for 5 hours and have to go to court, the judge told me that I was lucky because the officer has never been closer to shooting someone before. "NEVER COME CLOSER". Judge ruled in my favor because my lawyer pulled the ill-trained officer card and the judge agreed since the cop HAD TO GO TO THERAPY over almost shooting me. HE needed therapy! I am not joking guys, looking back on things I should have been shitting myself because these guys were scared of me and he could have blinked and shot me in his fearful state. I should have gone to therapy! Fuckers lost half my Squall Cosplay in the evidence locker, Got the gunblade back though. So I've got that going for me. Which is nice.

It hadn't set in till my mum nearly broke my neck hugging me and crying. I was like "why?....wait.......wait.... oh shit.... oh man, oh god.... holy fu-" then hugged her and the rest of my family and now am untrusting of cops. Shouldn't we feel safe and protected when we see cops? When did it become a thing to worry that even if you do nothing wrong that you'll get shot?

Cops shouldn't be trusted, most of them are where school bullies who never grow out of it end up. It's all too perfect of a job for power hungry assholes that love to pick on people. I think more and more people are starting to realize we're on the path to a police state in this country. Thanks to the internet and free exchange of information we're able to see and hear all about their almost common place abuse of power. A friend of mine is on his way to becoming a cop and I've worked as a security guard, but that doesn't change my view on them much.

In places where cops are fitted with cameras on their person the excessive force and cop related violence dropped by upwards of 80%. We need every cop fitted with at least a chest mounted go pro. Think of the good it will do.
