Current Situation

Basically I'm a huge Otaku but all my friends at school are either really preppy or are athletes . Basically what I'm saying (not trying to sound like a douche ) I hang out with all the "popular people". But in all honesty that's not who I am .. I drifted away from those kind of people years ago . Everything I do with them is fake , I still pretend to like them and hang out with them. But in all honesty I can't stand them and I won't let go because now my reputation and image means to much to me ... So I don't know why but I just needed to tell some one that . I'm just looking for real friends now ... Not the same kind of people I'm used to . Just felt like I needed to at least tell someone that .

Thanks I appreciate it

I've experienced this, simply thank them and move on. Do you really need a fake reputation? Do you need them to define who you are? It might be tough to do but it will be better to live an enjoyable life than a fake one.

Sadly this is one thing I cannot help you with good sir, Since I never had to deal with it as I was always assertive and spoke my mind. Though it's good that you got it off your chest for certain, I would recommend to stop faking yourself and just dump them if you don't like them, You'll find friends with similar interests if you look around trust me.

You're definitely not the only one :P Totally agreed with anigamer1999. But keep them in your network and treat them as acquaintances later. Trust me, you'll feel so much better once you find real friends. You should definitely get over it once you hit college or uni and meet new people. Hang it there, all you need is patience and determination.

Why not just hang out with everyone? I hung out with different groups in highschool and maintained friendships with all of them. If I wanted to play basketball or football I hung out with the athletes. If I wanted to chill back and play some games or get into a chess match I would hang with the gamers in the library area. If I needed to study I would hang with the honor roll kids. Exercise with the ROTC kids. Shiet I was all over. They all knew me as me. As long as they know who you are and you yourself know who you are. Then it doesnt matter who your friends are. Friends are friends. Just have fun and enjoy your time with them. But yeah if you dont want to hang out with them anymore just slowly drift away.
