Do guys/girls pay for every time/some time/pay half?

Since I started this post, I will say what I think. I think a little unfair that guys/girls have to pay for all the time whenever going out on a date. Not to be cheap or anything but feel a little unequal. One of my ex gf's friend told me, "being a guy should pay for everything." I found her words a bit sexism. I think both gender should pay half since is not fair for both sides, only increase financial burden. I'm not sure how others relationship work, but do you pay all the time, sometimes, pay half on a date?

It comes from an gentlemanly thing I think. Maybe a way to take care of the other person? Not really sure why it is but I plan on it myself unless the other person wants to pay. I think it has gotten abused as it has become expected instead of seen as a nice gesture. I am happy to share but want to take care of others, so I try to where I can.

I only pay for my half of the date. Honestly right now I am only physically able to pay for my half. The girl I'm going out with right now as friends always pays her half, so I'm still able to go out and have fun with her. Paying for the girl on a date goes back to before the stock market crash in the 1920's. Men were a lot richer, and women had no money at all because they were basically second class. Since men had all the money it only made sense that they payed for the dates. Now fast forward to modern times. Men and women are more or less making comparable amounts of money. Women want to be independent. A woman who is able to pay for her own half of the date is in control of her life. If a woman expected me to pay for all of the date, I'm assuming she just wants me to "buy" her love.

I feel obligated to pay, but if she insists on paying then I would not wish to insult her. Once you have been together for a while than finances can be a more open subject...

I like to pay whether family, friends or love interest. I also like equal partners so I'm equally pleased when friends, family and other go halves.

During my long term relationship I would pay almost every time except when she insists, which is cool from time to time.

So with the half I do not understand. When I go out I will pay and wants to go my friend then he pays or depending on who has the money just for that! All have to work for the money so why should always pay just one?
