so i just rescently learned all the hiragana so i tried to read a sentence in it and it made no sense at all, like do i have to be able to speak japanese before i can read it because the sentences made no sense
You might be thinking of katakana letters kakashe. That's used for for foreign words. The sentence structure is all Japanese though. I used to self study with: "Japanese for Busy People"
One weird trick to enlarging your vocabulary is getting a kids manga. They usually have "cheat" hiragana just above the the Chinese characters that most teen manga have.
