what got you to start using maiotaku?

I got tired of how rude and impersonal 4chan is and decided I needed a better place to chat away with my fellow otakus.

No other real Otaku's in my area, or at least never run into them lol. So I went looking online for a place and found here.

Heard about it on facebook. Ironically, the facebook group it was mentioned in, was where otakus could meet other otakus. XD

A friend told me about it in the beginning of 2013, a "weeaboo dating site worse than chatango" he described it. He wanted us to make fake accounts and annoy people, I declined. And finally, January 30th 2014, I remembered the site's existence, and joined to try and make some new friends. I'm not the type whose easily bothered by things, and when I am, I never show/admit it. But I was going through a lot at the time, my ex cheated on/dumped me, and none of my current "friends" were there for me. I ended up meeting a lot of cool people here, and for the first half of 2014, I even ended up becoming one of the most active forum users, and I probably befriended the rest of the most active users. Some of which I talk to on Facebook and Skype daily. And back in July, I also ended up dating a very wonderful girl I met off of here, and we're still happily together. Sure, now I'm ranting, and strayed off topic long ago. But I'm grateful to this site, and the (non-annoying part of the) community here.

There was a wave of horny people coming into a Facebook group called "Otaku meet Otaku". Someone directed them to Maiotaku.com. I checked this site out as well mainly to speak with single anime enthusiasts. To be fair you shouldn't have to emphasize the meeting part to say you're an anime group. I can see why people come in thirsty and confused.
