The Healthy Eating Thread

@Metaljester Soylent is being passed off as a complete form of nutrition without the need for natural food sources. While that might sound good on paper there are too many variables to account for and what the body needs as opposed to what it doesn't has not been mapped out to completion. I personally see flaws with the list of ingredients for Soylent. For one the carb source listed while technically a complex carb by structure digests like a simple carb... Might as well be using table sugar. Increased diabetes risk anyone? And the protein source would not have sufficient amino acid levels alone that would be beneficial for human health you would need to at least pair the rice protein with pea protein. Another thing I see flaws with is the fat source while decent is lacking in saturated fat and CLA. Yes while saturated fat should not be overly ingested it is steal needed in moderation for overall health. And don't get me started on the carb, protein, fat ratios and levels used. they are very dated. The vitamins and minerals listed you would be able to get from a multivitamin but are in no way the only ones needed or in the doses you or someone else would need. Multivitamins are typically dosed to help make up for vitamins and minerals that would be lacking in the general populations diet.

So you're fearing long term health problems. Your main argument is that we cant really replace whats natural or emulate it well enough. Well, I'm willing to test it out myself and take the risk(i still dont believe there is a risk but for the sake of argument ill say there is one). I'm going to continue with it. I'll remember you. If i do develop any health problems and i lose my optimal health ill tell you.

I'm trying to eat better than I used to. Thankfully I can't even stomach soft drinks anymore after quitting for a long time. Speaking of chili dogs, man I miss eating those. At 24 grams of fat PER HOTDOG (no chili), I'd rather stuff my face with a Big Mac. When I eat, I don't care at all about calorie count, mainly just fats and sugars. In unprocessed foods you can ignore those, but in processed stuff you have to be careful. As long as I live though, I don't think I will ever be able to swear off bacon cheeseburgers...so good...
