The Healthy Eating Thread

metaljester
Now this thread is about grocery store food or any food you buy. Basically I would like to share input on what actual healthy foods there are to eat and the ones who are fake yet say they are healthy.

Don't eat anything that says fat free or sugar free because they are unhealthier than regular food. Don't eat or drink anything made with high fructose corn syrup. Try to stay away from simple carbs like bleached flour, sugars, white rice, white/brown potatoes, stay away from foods containing hydrogenated fats/oils AKA trans fats. Balance your meals. An example would be 24 grams protein 24 grams carbs and 12 grams fats. The reason the fat is at 12 grams is because fats have twice as many calories per gram than carbs or proteins. Only eat fruits in the morning because what type of carb source are fruits?... that's right sugar or simple carbs. Now you can also eat sugars or simple carbs later in the day but only after a work out or training along with a fast digesting protein source of some kind such as whey protein, fat free cottage cheese, or egg whites. it is also in good practice to not include fats with post work out protein and carbs because you want the body to be able to absorb those nutrients rather quickly after training and fats slowdown digestion. A good example of a post work out meal would consist of 35 to 50 grams simple carbs to 25 grams fast digesting protein.

@Kodoku It's VERY nice to see someone who knows what they're talking about. Not just on here, but in general. You absolutely 100% correct about everything you've just said. I thought about making a post earlier, mentioning some of this myself. But you covered a lot of the stuff I would have forgot to mention. Thank you for bringing such things to attention.

Yep I agree on drink related products definitely stay away from the v8s though they are nowhere near as healthy as they state. As shin said though good to see somebody who brought in some factors here and such. I will post something up for contribution to this thread in awhile when im not busy.

Because of my job its very hard to eat, so for lunch and breakfast I have an EAS Low Carb Shake it has 25% daily vitamins. When home I to eat healthy snacks like newman's own salsa with rice chips or bananas dipped in yogurt. Unfortunately my upbringing and family tradition I grow alot of my own food or go fishing, you don't want to know about my other proteins >.>
