WHAT ARE THE FIVE TYPES OF OTAKU

I'd be the Shut in type. Shin would be the pervy type that keeps waifu pillows and many anime girl figures wearing kinky clothes and exposing panty shots.

According to Japanese there's only 2 types of otaku. Type A and Type B Type A otaku used to be described as those who liked the anime aesthetic but were really there for the plot and character development. Now because of how anime evolved its an otaku who likes the aesthetic but likes anime and manga for the potential to do literary analysis. Because of this Type A otaku are now rare. Type B otaku love anime for the characters them selves, the emotional appeal of the work, the escapism of the work, the action, the animation, the voicing, and the overall visual quality. For them style and tropes=substance and they used to get a bad rep for stereo typically being the moe loving, socially awkward man-children you see many Japanese otaku are portrayed to be. However nowadays the definition has evolved to mean anyone who loves anime for any reason except literary analysis. In that sense Type A's arent really otaku so much as they are literary nerds.

Shin, I only have figures of ponies. I dont have any body pillows, nothing hernia related, and honestly, very little anime anything, including shows. I own one cosplay that I half made with a friend (she was goingfor clothing design, or something. She wad good at all the sewing stuff, all that mattered.) And thats really it.

Iam type A then, I just love all these amazing storylines, Thats why Death Note and Code geass are my fav animes, I love all the twists and turns and trying to figure out the ending and whats gonna happen next
