Agreed. Treat otaku like you would anybody else. Smile, be friendly, make some small talk, et cetera.

The closest brush I had with death was last summer. Some friends and I had gone out to eat and I choked on some food. It was only for a few seconds but you never forget a feeling like that. I was so frightened I couldn't finish my meal.
