It is not that hard to answer this. If I had a superior I respect and I wanted to call them sempai or senpai I would probably choose sempai. Why? Well Japanese is not actually written like this, this is probably invented for foreigners to read it better, this has a name and every language have it: phonetic writing. Therefore since spanish has so many grammar rules and it's also my first language, there is a rule that obligue us to put an 'm' before every 'p' and 'b' though in english such think doesn't exist. This is why I have to write it as "sempai" and not "senpai".
