what spiderman comic/iteration would you recommend for someone wishing to get into his lore? a good play to start thatll give me all his info, characters and origin story, but hopefully nothing too old, as i dont like the old art style?
godspell @godspell I would still recommend the very beginning xD The art is stellar. The 60s were the best time for spider-man. Even right now I'm enjoying every bit of it
godspell @godspell The spectacular spiderman run not a bad one. Spiderman 1 1999 is pretty good too
godspell @godspell Ultimate spiderman (the spiderman of miles morales) is a good modern retelling of spiderman in another universe
Ghost @kuharido Just watch the animated series
Lamby @momoichi yo necro, is spectacular spiderman good enough to learn the characters? like, does it have harry osborn? or ultimate spiderman the cartoon?
godspell @godspell Honestly I would and wouldn't watch the animated series. It was amazing but a lot of it was censored due to television excs. Spider-man rarely hit anyone tbh. And you couldn't kill anyone or say you are. It's still an amazing watch

did you like the new morbius movie or nah?
https://i.imgur.com/4qc12tO.jpg
godspell @godspell I haven't watched it. But I knew it was gonna be garbage. Sony pictures has no idea what they're doing
Lamby @momoichi doesnt sony do spiderman? did you like the morbius comics?
godspell @godspell Of course the comics were the best. That cover of his first appearance is iconic. Him throwing spiderman off a ledge when his powers were fucked. Sony does own spiderman but they have joint custody with marvel pictures. But my theory is all these villains are Andrew Garfields
godspell @godspell But still they're awful. I'll still watch it because it's the first time morbius is on screen. And also watch kraven the hunter movie
Lamby @momoichi oh morbius is apart of the spiderman universe? isnt he a vampire?
godspell @godspell he's an artificially created vampire. He was trying to cure disease then made himself a vampire in the process of testing it on himself. He doesn't burn under the sunlight and he feeds on plasma/blood like a vampire. But hes stuck in his form. No turning back
Lamby @momoichi werent they able to cure the lizard teacher? cant they do the same for him? also kinda feels like just redoing the lizard teachers story, the whole experimenting on yourself to cure something
godspell @godspell Yeah it kinda was. But it was an ode to the invisible man and dracula monster films. Especially since they weren't allowed to use supernatural monsters due to restrictions set by law. At this point in time the law fluctuated and they went all out making morbius who was so beloved and can still be in control to have their own series. To this day he still hasn't found a cure
Lamby @momoichi a cure? for his vampirism or blood disorder?
godspell @godspell Vampirism. Hes still an artificial vampire. Forced to not be human or vampire
godspell @godspell what you up to
Lamby @momoichi readin on and off. you?
godspell @godspell tried reading lustrous couldn't. So back to reading vampires while I recharge
Lamby @momoichi why not :o?
godspell @godspell Idk it was wearing me out each chapter
godspell @godspell I'm just like why Phos. Why are you fucking everyone over. You've lost 2 people
Lamby @momoichi what part are you at? cause phos did nothing wrong, ever!
godspell @godspell Well we lost ghost. So rn the one underneath trying to be ok with it. He finally stopped someone from being taken because he let the others know of the new type
godspell @godspell I ended with the chapter where sensei says could you disappear please to the its not shogi its the white and black territory one
godspell @godspell Is is sad attack on titan series was predicted since chapter 1

is there any manga that you really wanna read but then you remember it was canceled and it makes you wanna cry? for me its me and the devils blues. i hate that akira is forced to draw ecchi manga, his art is so much more than nipples and titties.
https://64.media.tumblr.com/18cb73216bd8c4fa2e546f47d4425b80/tumblr_o9vp9p86oZ1vzdrugo1_1280.jpg
godspell @godspell Um berserk xD does that count?
godspell @godspell history strongest Kenichi because the author died midway
godspell @godspell what's your favorite political story? Mine akumetsu where it doesn't hit you on the head for it on its message on politics
Lamby @momoichi hmmmm not many political manga out there. i sometimes joke that gantz had an anti-immigration subtext. i googled that manga, is it dont by boichi? the art looks really familiar. aggretsuko was great with its commentary on working conditions in japan. manga wise, does mahou shoujo site count? cause i feel like you could argue it tries to shed a light on the mental illness issue in japan
godspell @godspell Hmm I'm think of more of the lines like code geass and maybe attack on titan. Where they use politics in their Mangas
godspell @godspell also if you haven't read akumetsu it is amazing
Lamby @momoichi hmmm. cant really think of a manga like that off the top of my head. havent seen code geass in aaaages and never finished attack on titans. i wish kiseji kept going, the aliens entering human politics was suuuuuper interesting, i wanna see where that goes from there
godspell @godspell xD maybe we'll see it in dandadan
Lamby @momoichi oh where you at in dandadan?
godspell @godspell latest chapter
godspell @godspell Also watched first ep of moon knight. Can't wait for more
Lamby @momoichi niiiiice. weird theyr doin a ranma thing with jiji, but not too surprising xD i think the evil eye arc might be my favorite (the subterranean thing was a fun twist, but man do they like ripping their skin off xD)
godspell @godspell I think the author pops off on each chapter
Lamby @momoichi idk, art, yeah the dudes hella talented, but the underwater arc was r4eeaallyy under whelming. the mangaka handles the romance aspect really clumsily too, feels like some shoujo doujin. he was an assistant to fujimoto, i expect better
godspell @godspell Hmm nah romance is pretty good in the eyes of fans. I hear a lot of Fandom love the ship. They live and breath it
Lamby @momoichi gyaru and nerd is a good ship, but the moments are simply drawn horribly and paneled like an amateur doujin. that finger holding thing from last chapter should have been pretty, but the faces were weirdly expressed and 0 creative paneling
godspell @godspell what you up to btw
Lamby @momoichi drawin and listenin to musix. you?
godspell @godspell Got home watching naruto rp on vr chat
godspell @godspell Also watched moon knight ep 1. I wanna see fan art of Cinnabon Steven
Lamby @momoichi howd ya like it?
godspell @godspell I love the pacing and storytelling. Poor Steven. He has himself restraint. Pours sand around his bed. Puts a piece of tape on his door. Because he feels like he leaves every night. And he's right. But the personality that does it. Doesn't go through the conventional means. He loses times in his day. Has things happen to him he never did
godspell @godspell The villian a cult leader who brings salvation in the form of judging people for what they will do in the future. So he offers people an afterlife. Because he has a goddess ammut who can judge a person soul

Lamby @momoichi she talks a lot, need specifics >:O also whatcha thinkin? good or nah?
godspell @godspell she's paired up with jade the librarian
Lamby @momoichi aaahhh. enjoying!?
godspell @godspell It's still refreshing. Also don't you hate when you're like this is the best in the genre then you get proven wrong
Lamby @momoichi patience, young patawan. i didnt decide this was my favorite manga until i got to the last page. proven wrong? whats the context?
godspell @godspell Well my favorite sports manga of all time is usually eyeshield 21 or Hajime no ippo. Right now this baseball really good called bungo
Lamby @momoichi eyehsield 21 is that good? i know that was murata's first manga, but he handled one punch so poorly i kinda assumed it wasnt worth its own art. i started reading ippo but never finished it D: i never finished slam dunk either. is bungo a new manga?
godspell @godspell I need to reread slam dunk bc I feel like I can appreciate it more now. And yeah eyeshield was really good when he wrote. He made it very easy to understand and follow football plays. Hajime is very tough. The author only draws 10 pages now since he's getting In age. But both series create this wonderful story
godspell @godspell Slam dunk should be top tier for me. But I think nostalgia factor wins over me in regards of ippo and eyeshield
Lamby @momoichi oh yeah slam dunk was great, i didnt drop it i just gotta get around to reading it again. that 90s style never appealed to me, but the plot was great. apparently the mangaka used a ton of actual nba photographs for his full page art shot. i find it really interesting that a japanese man would be interested in football, and i know muratas art is top tier, so i will get around to reading it. ippo and finishing slam dunk are priorities though
Lamby @momoichi do you read much alternative sport manga? the other month i started reading a ballet manga and a week later an anime was announced. super excited, i think i saw that it was by the same mangaka for ballroom e yokuso
godspell @godspell 90s style xD this man was the one who makes art out of each panel as his style xD the one who creates real and vagabond
godspell @godspell Read one out. It's psychological and gambling on a baseball team
Lamby @momoichi wait the mangaka for slam dunk is the same for vagabond?! its called One Out? got a link?
godspell @godspell I never use website just pirating apps. And yeah he wrote all of those. Also yeah just called one out
Lamby @momoichi uwaaaahhh fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. you gotta read boys on the run. you liked i am hero, boys on the run is even better
godspell @godspell I am hero. Is iffy. The rest of serious I don't know how to feel about it
godspell @godspell I've also been trying to process suicide island and rainbow
Lamby @momoichi oh i thought you really liked it. suicide island sounds familiar, is that where if your caught trying to commit suicide your thrown on an island? or was it that oshimi manga? i think i tried to read it cause it sounded like btoooom but wasnt a fan of the art
godspell @godspell I think from the first half it really had me. But by the end it was losing me. Just cause an art bad doesn't mean the message isn't portrayed right. And yeah and the one where suicide equals island

you know what would have made the batman a 10/10 film? start it with him in his 20's, back from his training and just started heroing. he gets his ass kicked from petty criminals, but also defeats some. end the movie with him catching his first villain with the construction plans for arkham asylum on his desk. then he gets to be broody and angsty, and we get to see a weaker, newer side to him. before he has his amazing suit, before the bat mobile.
godspell @godspell That was the first year of being batman. This is the second year where the villains have changed. They aren't petty crooks. Also batman came back to gothams two years ago after traveling world studying everything he needed to know. Arkham asylum was already established years ago. The arkhams are on his mother side of the family because the Arkhams were prone to madness. Thats why there's a world where his mom became joker and his father became batman. That's also why the suit not perfect. The glider mode still not perfect. Or the batmobile being a regular car with an open engine. For some reason you want more of a comic book protrayl however that's not what I want to see. I'd rather have inspiration from comics that creates a new movie entirely
godspell @godspell Because the suit is far from perfect. It's rugged and hard to move in. Not as agile as he would want it to be. Everything was made by him. He hasn't even fully used the resources he normally has. The detective mode eye glasses were amazing like the video games. I'm also very happy with the deleted scene of Joker. He was a serial killer in batman first year that was knocked into acid cause his hair to grow green. His skin destroyed and blistered. Also the deformed smile
Lamby @momoichi this movie was nooooot set in the second year of him being batman. he already had the bat mobile and his whole ass suit! with all the fuckin gadgets! you cant tell me he whipped all that up in the span of a fucking year WHILE fighting crime!? that within the span of a fucking year he rebuilt arkham asylum and that he already put the joker inside? that he made that weird ass hulk juice within the span of a year? no. that makes no sense. also robert patterson is too old to play an early 20s batman
godspell @godspell No he is in his 20s. Because you can see in journal's year two. The news also reporting about the batman. Talking about how today marks the two year anniversary sighting of the batman. This isn't even close to the gadgets he would have in future though when the villians escalate even further. Also the weird juice isn't something he created. It's venom. An experimental drug giving the user more strength and stamina. Aka the drug used by bane to become super strong. Yes the joker was a serial killer deformed since birth. However during his fight with batman he got knocked over into acid.
godspell @godspell If you see on the deleted scene Joker says this is our one year anniversary and you bring paper. This isn't enough gadgets though. A bullet suit proof a must. A eye ware piece to record information since he can't take these pieces of evidence with him. A grappling hook. An imperfect flying suit. This isn't there to forms of Christian bale or Michael Keaton
Lamby @momoichi i know that rob played a younger batman, but i figured it was a few years and hes started to gain some attention. dude idc if this isnt a log of gadgets for batman, my dude had a hulk serum already created incase of deus exmachina. also, how is the general public supposed to know that was bane juice? how did he get his hands on bane juice. he already defeated bane? again, i point to this being TWO FUCKING YEARS!
Lamby @momoichi a lot* fug
Lamby @momoichi i watched the deleted scene thing, and i really liked the joker being horribly disfigured. id love to see him wear a clown mask instead of make up. itd be a fresh iteration of his appearence. sad that the acid didnt make him super white though, isnt that the point of him falling into it? thats why hes white?
godspell @godspell They don't explicitly tell you. Even the director hasn't been asked that because people assume it's adrenaline. My personal theory comic book wise is that it is venom. No he hasn't defeated bane. Bane in later years used venom to inject it into his mind and body. A more potent version. Batman has it because he may need it as a last ditch effort to save someone.
godspell @godspell Yeah in the acid it bleaches his skin. But honestly I'd wanna see him wearing makeup that would be cool. He chooses to be a clown
godspell @godspell I love this Joker already. He was creepy. Fascinated by batman only thinking of him after the year they met. Hes already established he's smart. He's figure out the riddler and takes advantage to manipulate him. Also if you see in the shots. He stole the paper clip on the files
Lamby @momoichi it was a dues ex machina though, even you have to agree to this. this was no chekovs gun, this was never established, he legit just pulled it out of his suit in the end. and again, the implication would bve hes defeated bane. bane and joker in two years? no fucking way. its unrealistic to assume he came out of his training able to bring down super villains asap, and also had that fuckin suit ready made. id LOVE to see a struggling batman, not one that fights throngs of criminals and can get hit by a metal pipe like its a rubber snake. to have a movie where he climbvs through petty criminals and ends it with defeating his first super villain would have been fucking amazing.
godspell @godspell Bane never created it. In the comics he was born in the prison. He stayed in isolation training his body and mind with the library. Then he was chosen knowing it's pretty much death. For extermination on the use of the drug. But he survived and escaped. Batman got it through connections on replicating the serum from past files. You say struggle. But this isn't a movie to watch him fight. He still lost pretty much. The 4 most important and corrupt men in gotham are dead. Creating a vacuum in the city someone gonna take over. I like this film. Its more different than him beating people up and beating up the villian
godspell @godspell I would have been so bored otherwise
godspell @godspell Besides they beat the shit out of him with their shotguns and rifles. That amount of pain going through him
godspell @godspell I seriously wanna watch a trilogy of this. But the director a one and done movie kinda guy. Plus warner bros are stupid as shit. Because that man has offered me a riddler and Joker team up. And a realistic mr freeze. So please movie gods
Lamby @momoichi dude i shouldnt have to read so deep that i gotta be into bane comics to understand the film. i know banes backstory (begrudgingly) but to say 'he obviously bane juice from these files' when all the scene showed was him downing this vial in his suit and hulking out is a leap. logically it makes sense, but how is the average movie viewer suppose to connect those dots? and it. is. still. a. deus. ex. machina. idc how he got it, they never even uttered banes name and he had that vial in his suit. chekov gun that shit. if the riddler foreshadowing was so impressive, how was this just thrown out. wtf? he lost? every fist fight he owned in. even if the town flooded, he still saved the day. he found his epiphany. i did like that riddler outsmarted him, but thats the thing. batman in this is fucking stupid. they TELL you hes smart. that hes created all of these inventions and has solved these codes, yet his actions are stupid. he has 0 emotional intelligence as well. again, the riddler poured his heart out to batman, and all he could do was scorn him for it. wow, real nice of you, you really are justice personified, talking down to a fucking orphan. i guess he only cares about orphans when theyr kids. they can all starve when they hit 18. this just harkens back to the biggest hypocrisy of the character batman; he beats the shit out of orphans. out of the poor and destitute. out of people he may have become if he didnt have mommy and daddys billions and a fucking butler.
Lamby @momoichi but hey, im glad you like it. everyone liked it, apparently. its good that you can appreciate something i cant! i didnt hate the movie personally just thought it was so bad its good actually, and i liked catwoman, penguin, and riddler too. plus im curious to see joker as well
godspell @godspell I think they made it perfectly. I felt it was a love letter for the years of batman. This director loves batman. He threw inspiration from Kurt Cobain songs too while writing movie. It's why he chose Robert Pattison too. He watched his indie movies while listening to Kurt Cobain and researching him. So if you look up the album he was listening to. It was basically Bruce Wayne journey throughout the movie. And Robert Pattison because Kurt Cobain wanted to change the world with music. Robert pretty much the same. He wants to be a great actor but never wants the fame it comes with. Because this is his first main stream movie in a long time.
Lamby @momoichi really? i like rob cause in harry potter he aimed his wand like a gun cause he said wands looked nerdy. i mean, kurt hurted because of the commodification of his art, so weird comparison when rob just seems like the average celeb
godspell @godspell Well his acting is good. Like really good if you've seen his indie movies. Because indie movies don't have the same funding or marketing as a blockbuster movie. So in those movies he had to try his hardest in all these roles but he had time to work on it. On batman he had a month to prepare for a four year journey of making this movie
Lamby @momoichi uuggghhh but he was basically a rock as batman xD rob is a great actor, but tbh iv only ever seen him as edward in twilight. i saw an article but i think it was a meme, where he played shadow sonic game to prepare for the movie xD i like to think he really did, least thats my headcanon
Lamby @momoichi oh, he did ced well in harry potter. acting is hard for kids, but he did really well
godspell @godspell Idk I think he portrayed batman and Bruce Wayne as one entity. This was a new protrayl I've never seen before. I'm sure if there was a sequel it be different. Though you have to admit you've never seen a batman talk as much as him
godspell @godspell I think it was a fantastic performance full of anger and trauma that honestly i never saw in any batman movie
Lamby @momoichi isnt the point that batman and bruce wayne should be two different people? the elegant socialite vs the violent brooding vigilante?
godspell @godspell Yeah but these are the first two years. Where he's still reeling from the trauma. The anger he's kept deep inside and he let's it all out like a tantrum on the criminals. However he realizes he has to be both. He has to be to help the city. However with corruption that's difficult
Lamby @momoichi uugghhhh you keep saying still reeling from the trauma. he was like ten. its been atleast ten years. wev all lost a loved one, and wev all moved on. whats stopped him? his billions and his butler?
godspell @godspell Even though he was 10. He had perfect memory. He remembers every moment that night. He felt like he could have stopped it even though he was 6 or so. He had relatives who wanted him for the inheritance. He was able to live with Alfred as a caring butler (even though he realized he's basically his father). Though every night he wakes up from nightmares. So he left home when he was in his teens. Trying to discover himself to find peace. Realizing what he could do is bring peace to the city his parents loved and tried to care for. He made a promised he do everything in his power to protect the city or against criminals that took their lives
godspell @godspell No child should be orphaned from easily a regular mugging. He felt so strongly on that poor child losing his father he saw before trick or treating. It was also the same day he lost his parents which was intentional in riddler plans. To hurt the last Wayne who escaped the orphanages unlike him
Lamby @momoichi he has perfect memory? isnt that just an interation thing, not concrete canon? cause iv never heard that before. he was 6?! thats even worse xD he GOT to have a parental figure, one that loved him enough to want to protect him. like i said, the riddler is fucking right. bruce wayne has everything, and yet is still a whiney little bitch. the riddler had worse, so much worse. so did the other orphans. but how does bruce respond to a fellow orphan? to insult him. to call him a failure and then leave when its clear the riddler saw him as his only friend. what the fuck was that scene, how do you justify this??
godspell @godspell I think trauma makes everyone equal with money or not. Everyone has trauma and not everyone can heal the same way. I think batman too far gone to change how he is. He has young prodigies but what he wants is to them to be different than him. That's why for Robin they caught the one who killed his parents so he wouldn't become like him. A failure someone who allowed his revenge consume him and allowing so many people to get hurt by the end of it. Because who knows how many people he killed with that flood and power vacuum he created.
godspell @godspell He couldn't give anyone such validation that his actions were alright though. He was a sick man. Who as an accountant was able to find out the corruption of the city of where the money actually went to instead of the orphanages. He went crazy. He was unwell by writing over and over again. What he must become
godspell @godspell Also Joker stated it himself. He's actually afraid of validating that these people had it coming. He cannot sympathize with these actions he refuses it from morality
Lamby @momoichi thats just not true. can you imagine the difference between the fear of watching your parents die and then being thrown into an unknown place with a bunch of unknown children, havign rats bite at your toes, having no real stability, and watching your fellow children die every winter? that that child is suffering no more than one that is protected and comfortablke and warm with an adult that has love to give them and advice to mold them with?
godspell @godspell I dont believe he's been able to find a way to do so yet. How can a broken man who doesn't care about if he dies tell someone else as broken as him advice
Lamby @momoichi which at this point, feels willful. he doesnt WANT TO let them go. to move on. which happens sometimes, and would explain his emotional immaturity, but then address that. add it into the film. make it a point of growth. yet they dont
Lamby @momoichi and it isnt 'how can he give them advice' how about just not berating the dude xD the guy who had it so much worse than you. maybe realize 'shit, i kinda had it pretty sweet, i better go hug alfred'
godspell @godspell I feel like they didn't want to. Because it would be like every other batman first movies another origin movie. With again flashbacks of his parents getting killed. I've seen it way too many times. I'm tired of seeing it honestly. I think that's fair. Even if that did those shots. I feel like it would take away from the movie
godspell @godspell The movie was 3 hrs long not really steering away from the plots. But as well leaving sub plots that need to be wrapped up
Lamby @momoichi exactly! thats what it comes down to! they did not want to. it was willful, because it didnt fit into the plot. he has 0 emotional growth throughout when there are opportunities where he should. you bring up him being in no place to give advice, and yet he did with catwoman. he told her not to kill him, to be better than that. who is he to give advice about ventange when he cant even live like a normal human being because hes so absorbed in his own?? that should have been an eye openign experience for him. for him to see himself in catwomans self destructive quest for vengeance. but no. because that means character growth, and we need to keep batman sulky and sad
Lamby @momoichi vengeance* sorry my spelling is shit im just spergin
Lamby @momoichi dude how long was that fucking car chase scene? felt like half the movie.
godspell @godspell I think we did get character growth. He was changing on his outlook on how to do things. He shouldn't be rageful as he is. He can't let it consume him. Because all it did was bring inspiration to a mad man and his followers who were inspired by vengeance. He has to become the batman to bring hope to the city that there is at least one man in the city trying to improve the city. Also of course he has every right to give advice to catwoman. Because he would gladly kill the man who may or may not have killed his family shaping who he was
godspell @godspell We have the possible sequel to explore these changes. I wouldn't want character growth to happen and take away from the tone of the movie. So I believe it will be different
godspell @godspell btw I left comments on your profile
Lamby @momoichi rageful, dude barely ever got angry xD he was monotone the majority of the film, only lashing out rarely. that more exemplifies someone that isnt full of rage, but just someone who cant handle their own emotions. and AGAIN if his quest was purely for vengeance, WHY did he fight petty criminals? why did he get involved with riddlers case? if he only cared about solving his parents murder, that would be his fixation, but it wasnt. he was a general crime fighter, yet they wanted to paint it like his need to avenge his parents was his true drive. it wasnt, or he would have spent all his time doing that. hell, he didnt even bother digging into his own parents backgrounds to find the motivation for someone to want to kill them. that implies he never investigated it to begin with.
godspell @godspell He can't avenge his parents it was the one case without any evidence to go off of. If there was the person covering it up is dead. Oh he was rageful you can tell with his speech and tone. Until he had to be methodical and cold with his methods like a surgeon. Every moment he was caught off guard too. Besides he one man. He needs a system later on with police and Das that will persecute the ones on top. Because carmine would have gotten out from jail
godspell @godspell I mean look at the movie. Corrupt police commissioner and police in his pockets. Plus they hate batman. They don't respect him or want him in their city. Right now it's not possible to catch the elite without the right help
Lamby @momoichi dude, he didnt even try. if he did try he would have known that shit about his parents. so where does the drive for vengeance come from? who is he targeting? why isnt he killing criminals in that case? clearly this isnt vengeance, this is him trying to clean the streets. "hes just one man" that can eat multiple hits from a iron pipe apparently. one man that can easily fight off 6 people without taking a lick. it is inarguable that he is op in this film. hes super smart and also strong and also handsome and also rich. gimme a break. i would love a scene like the hammer scene from old boy. out of breath, tumbling around. that was a real fight. he gets tired after every hit. he feels the attacks against him. old boy is the ultimate revenge story, and exemplifies its toxicity perfectly.
godspell @godspell Didn’t he do that when he basically destroyed that man face in the final scene.
godspell @godspell Of course it’s vengeance he mentally projects the criminal on every hood he beats the shit out of. Alfred even says you were just a boy you couldn’t have done anything
Lamby @momoichi do what?
Lamby @momoichi its not vengeance because he lets them go. he has a no murder policy. why if he hates these people? where does this moral highground come from when your on a quest for revenge? its clear that this is him wanting to make gotham a better place, he wants to stop crime, but they call it vengeance because bad writing
godspell @godspell He was vengeance he represents the city that needs to be healed from the sickness of crime. That’s why in the beginning he creates a plane to instill fear into villains to think twice on committing any crimes. Why wouldn’t he have a high ground on it. If he does kill he wouldn’t be able to do what he does
Lamby @momoichi by that logic vengeance is good. its healthy, its healing. isnt the point of the ending him realizing vengeance is no bueno? cause it is indeed no bueno. it creates a cycle of pain. i refer you to oldboy.

Lamby @momoichi i didnt no, i didnt even finish it, i went to sleep when the riddle was put in arkham cause he was the only one i cared about. i had bf-kun finish it and give me the highlights, and it sounded like i did not miss a thing xD
Lamby @momoichi yeah tell me why you like it!
godspell @godspell I'm also 90 percent sure you didn't even see the riddler before he was caught. You can see him at the paparazzi taking pictures of Bruce wayne. Having his followers stand by him. He also showed himself the first time batman went to the ice lounge. You can see him taking pictures from the window. Also his followers spoiling the plan on livestream. Can his suits withstand the bombs for later?
Lamby @momoichi no he got caught in the cafe, and then after a bit we see him in arkham. its when batman insults him and leaves that i left too.
godspell @godspell Yes in the Cafe. But in the film as a viewer you could have figured it out. A carpenter tool for a murder weapon impractical. A ugly rug in the riddler house. The streams where the followers are commenting bits of the plan. It's very awesome little points that helps the viewer realize this is his plan to ruin batman. Because the final steps besides cleansing the city is if batman doesn't join him. He will make him hated
godspell @godspell i also never thought of this movie as a super hero movie until the 3rd act. The first two parts felt like a myster noir story which was fantastic
Lamby @momoichi could i have xD? seems like these are more easter eggs for observant watchers and not integral things for the plot. i like foreshadowing, and i appreciate when the directors add little things to reward observant watchers. i liked penguin and i loved that his club was the ice burg lounge. wish he was more of a kingpin type dude, not just some ordinary mobster.
Lamby @momoichi and its not a superhero movie, cause batman isnt a super hero. he never was and never will be, hes just a vigilante with money, he has 0 super powers, and i hate when people say hes a superhero. a case can be made for tony stark because his intelligence is unrealistic, but batmans intelligence is still somewhat within the realistic range.
godspell @godspell He will be a kingpin of crime. That's why he's looking out at the city in sunrise. Because the point of cinematography is to show a dark rainy side of gotham for poor people. But with the rich they see a sunny side of gotham. Penguin being in that light is probably him taking over. I love the sfx makeup he doesn't even look like the actor. I love mobsters and he has a limp like a penguin too.
godspell @godspell No I mean in a super hero genre. Because we both know I don't think of him as a superhero. My bad should have clarified
