Sarutobi was after the moose mens' booty. Legend has it that the moosemen buried their sacred treasure deep within the center of the mountain on mooseman island. The treasure itself is known to make a king out of whoever touches it. Only the music that he played with his Daruma accordion could melt the permafrost ice guarding the mountain entrance. Little did he know that the demon lord was a sexy succubus who had already stolen the treasure and was ruling the poor moosemen with a seductive iron fist. At least that is what Sarutobi read in the "moosman island welcoming pamphlet" he received upon entering the harbor.
