Unless you're so small she can't feel it going in, or so big it causes your partner discomfort (and what does that is different for everyone), it really doesn't matter all that much. It's a cliche, but true: it's more about technique and your connection with that person. That said, the women I've discussed this subject with generally agree that girth is better than length. Patience and lube can help work up to someone who's wide, but virtually nobody I've ever met likes having their cervix jackhammered. YMMV, as always.
