Final Fantasy

I was reading GI and i saw an article that was already talking about FF-XIV. I know the logistics to final fantasy yet never played one. Which game would be a good starting point to start on the series (note: the only turn based game ive ever played was the pokemon series, so nothing to mind boggling)

if you don't mind the 8bit graphics 3 is probably one of the best one's put there, if you want my personal favorite i would suggest 10
