Older Otaku (if they exist)

Anime is something that's been a regular part of my life since before I could reconize it as anime, cartoons or japanamation for at least 20 of my tweenty- four year it's like breathing. I don't think that going to change as long as I'm lucky enough to be alive.

um...I still weat my InuYasha "sit" beads under my dress shirts, and my only watch, is Ed's from FMA...so, yeah, we elder otaku are out there (some of my friends say I'm realllly out there...)

It's interesting because as you have just said, at conventions I see older Otakus. I think this site is fun anyway. The Anime day is sticking around!

I totally agree with zepdread, being otaku is life. I see no way that I will "grow out of it". I also agree that being an otaku teen is a western thing. I admit I wasn't a hardcore otaku until two years after I graduated high school, I was 20....^_^ but I am also a cosplayer which annoys the teeny boppers to death, since I do it better. That makes me laugh everytime. Sorry, I am getting on a cosplay rant here...but...it seems the older crowd works harder at anime cons/ cosplay.

I don't understand "grow out of it" either. Obviously I haven't. I would like to cosplay but I guess I need a partner to ecourage me. Doesn't seem to be a lot of Anime charcters I fit with. Still would like to join in. Maybe a big Totoro. LOL
