how to meet new friends that like anime/mangas?

Yeah, I find it's pretty hard to meet people with an interest in anime, manga, etc., as people don't generally wear a sign declaring that they're a fan of it. Keep an eye out for people wearing anime T-shirts and accessories, though. The same thing goes for most interests (specific sports, music, etc.), except that there's a lot more events to meet people at when the common ground you're looking for is music (concerts), sports (games), and the like. For otaku, barring obvious things like T-shirts, it's really all about context. Like Talamar, I definitely don't look like an otaku. If you see me on the street, I look like an office worker, because I am. On the other hand, if you run into me in a bookstore browsing manga (which I never am anymore, thanks to online stores), I look like an otaku.

Whether or not you like highschool genre animes, I find that finding a character you can relate to, and then trying to act like they do in social situations tends to increase the chances of finding other anime fans. This is form personal experiance. Sometimes a person will recognize your actions coming from an anime, but mostly I find anime fans tend to get attracted towards high levels of *anime*-energy I call it

Use google and search for anime conventions near your or something like that I guess. What you mean lock convention? I'll just assume it's a typo.

i say start whith your regular friends and introduce anime again you probably just showed them a anmie that didnt fit their tastes i mean there are a lot of difirent anime in diffirent genre so there is pretty much an anime or manga out there for anyone plus anime like dragonball and pokemon where pretty much a hit al over the world so the best course of action would probably be to ask what kind of regular series they watch and then find a few anime in the same genre of those series and show them those because we don´t have all have the same taste it would be better to have more than one ready in the end if it doesn´t work you can always make friends here :p
