Lets say you're getting to know someone or even started dating and yet they know next to nothing about anime.
What's the first show you introduce them to? Or do you show them anything at all and keep it to yourself?

Oh Depends on it it is a girl or a guy.. First anime I show guys tends to be Cowboy Bebop or Trigun.. for girls usually Fruits Basket or Chobits... and most tend to enjoy them so I am guessing they are fairly safe good picks.. I kinda try to avoid over the top complex diluted stories that might scare new Anime viewers off like Neon Genesis or say like Kiddy Grade and excel Saga.. those might scare off new fans... they just a little harder to grasp. But I have been lucky when comes to dating most of them enjoy anime. but as for introducing just people in general to anime my above formula is what I go with.

It depends on what genre they like ^^
Action: Probably Aoi no Exorcist or Fullmetal Alchemist
Romance: Ouran Highschool Host club or Fruits Basket
Comedy: Soul Eater ^^
Those were wat I could think of on the spot

Like they've said, it really depends on the person. I'm good at reading people, and their moods, so I try to pick something that will fit. However, the most common one I've shown to newbs to anime is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. It's a fairly reliable way to get them out of the "anime are cartoons for small children" mentality.

Hmm for girls I would probably pick inuyasha, chobits, peach girl, fruits basket or case closed. For guys probably sword art online, Soul eater, dragon ball or ummm samurai champloo.
