English dubbed vs Japanese dubbed

metaljester
What will you choose im going for japanese dubbed myself
cecil
I think it really depends on the series. Original japanese is good most of the time, but there are sometimes where the dub is really good as well. Eva is one of those imo.
metaljester
Yep i agree with you on that i just grew up with japanese dub so im more used to it now

I tend to prefer english because a Majority of japanese va's tend to not do emotio mg s well. While not always the case I f ind it fairly common. The other issue I have is they tend to have only three or four diff sounding styles specially for females. Usually either to high pitched or soft and whispery. Don't get me wrong I always try to make it a habit towatch both and judge on an individual basis.
metaljester
I see i could understand that thanks for the opinion talamar

i love japanese over english maybe because i always watch every anime in japanese i guess it feels wierd watching it in english XD (seems like im watching an entirely different series.). but i believe the japanese voice acting fits series alot more than english (except for an anime called nerima daikon brothers, in which case i preferred english XD)

I see i definitely choose japanese myself for most things strangely enough i have seen some french versions dubbing of anime which can be quite interesting they are very rare though

I prefer the Japanese in all cases, but there are a few shows where I consider the English dubbing decent, as far as keeping to the story and attitudes of the characters. These would be Stand Alone Complex, Appleseed, El Cazador de la Bruja, Ghost Hunt, and Gunslinger Girl.
metaljester
I do agree with that ghost hunt did have english dubbing

Well there's actually this one show where the dub team completely rewrote the script for this show called "Ghost Stories". It was aimed towards kids in Japan and was pretty bland and didn't do too well over there. So what they decided to do was insert as much crude humor, swearing, racism, ect. as possible (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxJ4VWoeOzs). It's still one of the funniest anime I've ever seen. Besides that I can only watch the dubs if it's hilariously bad or Big O and some Gundams, everything else I prefer in good o'l Japanese.
