Hard to say what my favorite anime is of all time, but currently I love Kaiju no 8. It's got Kaiju, lots of interesting characters, and personally I really am into Soushiro Hoshina, which is saying something, since most of the time I'm kinda ace. How about you?

Of all time I would say Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Currently airing, I would say either Frieren or Jobless Reincarnatiokn

Natsume's Book of Friends. I love how compassionate it is, and how it portrays relationships without romanticizing them. If you ever find yourself feeling lonely, give it a shot.

I don't know if I could for sure call anything my absolute favorite anime, but Welcome to the NHK does a very good job of illustrating the rough life of hikikomori (basically modern day hermits, which is an issue Japan deals with in some capacity to this day) while mixing in good humor and more serious moments. If I remember correctly, the author of the manga was a Hikikomori himself, which likely helped make the writing as good as it was. Also, the anime version of Misaki is definitely best girl material (She's... less than stellar in the manga so I need to be specific). Would I say it's my number one anime? debatable, probably in a top 10 though.

My favorite anime is Gintama. It handles everything in an amazing way from the well-written characters that are really fleshed out to the peak story arcs that will make you laugh out loud, cry like a baby or be excited like a little kid, the interesting setting and world building (basically Edo-period Japan but with sci-fi mixed in) and the way you can feel the raw emotions of the characters whether it's through funny, sad, tragic or violent scenes. I really resonate with the beautiful philosophy of life that is expressed through some characters and quotes. One other thing I'll have to mention is the amazing OST which is definitely up there with some of the best anime OSTs. Oh, nearly forgot, the 4th-wall breaking, parodies and comedy are top-notch!
