DnD and table top gaming (over discord)

jacobl89
In the last year and a have I have gotten into table top gaming. I wonder if enough people were interested if we could start something from the people here? Just checking for general interest before any details are worked out. If there is I would be happy to start a game of something up.

I think @daggerfella93 proposed doing this a while back so he might be interested. If its a set day and time of the week I would be too. Has to be consistent else I would fall off from it.

Sounds good. I think if we can get 1 more we might be able to start figuring out if we can all get together at a particular time. I figure 3 players is probably the minimum with 1 DM. IMO

Yeah i play B/X with some of the later BECMI additions to it. I run Classic D&D using Old-School Essentials as a base. this isnt even 1st edition its technically 0.5 E, but it is a complete system that doesn't break down under high level play (up to lvl 36) or even into immortality in a long campaign. It also features mass combat and domain level play (like running a stronghold or city & collecting taxes). It gives enough options to players, and differences between classes. I also have the option for it to use RACE with Class. It's not a pillow fight like 5th edition and newer is. I do have a current Fantasy campaign running in Karameikos on Mystara using this system. the next one I have (possibly for a year and a half later) is a Cyberpunk one in the Rust belt. @jacobi89 do you need a DM? I'd be free for Thursday's if you want to do something.

Well I have a lot of Mondays off it seems from my new work schedule so I was hoping for that otherwise have a situation where everyone shares their schedule and we figure something out. I am only familiar with 5E dnd currently but open to more. Another group I play with on Sundays alternates between a couple homebrew, 5E, cyberpunk, and BESM. I can DM, that's not a problem or if we decide on a game where someone else likes to DM they can. It doesn't matter to me. Thursdays are a bit harder as that is less likely. Each month I work full weekends except 2 weeke.ds. one weekend I get off entirely and the one after or before I get one of the weekends off. When it is a week where I get a full weekend off I won't have any weekdays off. Then there is the mayter of what time I get off work. Still want to see if we can draw more interest to see what works for people but it's good to know what you can do.

What about time? I'm office hours, off weekends. Eastern time.

If I DM, I'm going to stick with what I know and run OSE (B/X) it's sufficient enough for up to level 14 play and with my supplements we could do domain level campaigning or solo stuff once your high enough level. With it I can run classic B series and X Series modules such as Nights Dark Terror (B10), The Lost City (B4), Keep on the Borderlands (B2) or even Isle of Dread (X1) & Castle Amber (X2). Also first edition ad&d Modules such as Dungeon Land (EX1), The Temple of Elemental Evil (T1-4) & Ravenloct (I6) are compatible with the Advanced Fantasy OSE. as for playing, ill see if im free. im currently unemployed atm. Eastern Time for me too. id be fine with playing whatever tho.

I would be able to take some players into my current campaign if you guys don't mind playing old school D&D I don't use THAC0, but it's simple subtraction and the equivalent of converting Descending AC to Ascending AC and adding your to-hit modifier. I'd have to meet up with both of you on a call, get your expectations and what you don't want to see or hear at all, then roll up a character with Race, class, skills and weapons mastery. You guys will have to be level 4. My characters are almost level 6 and my rule is 1 level lower than the party average when taking in new players. I had a friend drop who had been long absent, a friend of mine has a schedule that doesn't allow him to be free on Sundays anymore he got a job at a pizza place. And I do have someone interested in joining but he's getting hella late on the 2 week notice he gave me and hasn't gotten back to me. So I believe I have spots available. But no more than two spots are available. We play on Sunday at 8:30pm ET till 10:30 ET. If you can't, I can join y'all for your Monday thing or I can just host something on that day. Maybe we could all chat in VC at some point

I am a noob. I understand some of these things. lol I might not be a good fit for an advanced party.

The system is very easy to learn. There's really only 27 pages to read aside from the one detailing your class and race. Because it's an older version of d&d, while it may be a little bit more difficult the system is actually quite simple when it comes to combat, dungeon exploration, wilderness exploration and waterborne exploration. All the rules for anything are between one to two pages for each topic that are A5 sized (ie zine booklet size). The system is quite easy to learn. Even if you are new if I taught you the system and had a first session with you I guarantee you will understand it. https://necroticgnome.com/products/old-school-essentials-basic-rules You can download the basic rules for free and it covers most of what you need to know. Anything else will be covered or applied during character creation to give you options such as skills and weapons mastery. Anything in the expert side of the rules you wouldn't have to worry about as the party knows what they're doing. and it's not an issue with the party being advanced. You guys will have four combat levels when you start so you're not going to be too far behind them even if you choose to be a mage.
