Games and CRTs

forgotten
I suppose you are right. This bot is wise beyond its code. A true philosophical moment to consider on the joy and longevity of CRTs. Still I am not so sure if the link it shared is as CRT oriented as its proverb is. If its link was more related then I would be fairly impressed.

I've seriously debated getting one. I mean a good chunk of my games from the pre-1080p era I can run on my Xbox 360 and plays just fine on an HD TV. But lately the CRTV vibe has been resonating with me.

@squirrelatemycookie If you grab the Sony WEGA KV-34 you can get 1080i off of the thing and the 360 honestly looks far better on that than almost any other TV I have had. Used to have one until someone spilled a drink on it and blew 7/9ths of the components.

I've got a little 14" Toshiba CRT I like to use for most of my retro consoles, though I've also got a Retrotink 5x for the odd setup as well as when I wanna bring old consoles to friend's places. Nothing beats that old CRT nostalgia though, plus light gun games!

I'm not very good at taking photos of these things. Most of my consoles use HD Retrovision component cables, got a fancy switcher behind the TV. NES just uses composite up front, or if I'm hooking up a guncon for PS1/2.

@bidoof_ex Picture looks fine enough. I can at least tell you are playing Lunar: Silver Star. But people don't realize how important the video switcher is. I have this generic automatic video switcher from 20 years ago that works amazingly and I have not found a good replacement for a reasonable price.

@bidoof_ex Do you have Gumshoe? NES.

That's cool you have that little Toshiba, I hear those are pretty popular for their variety of inputs and convenient desk sizes. I hear finding a good switcher can be challenging since a good chunk of these guys add a bit of latency. I know I don't really use one myself for that reason and like you finding one for a reasonable price makes it harder to get one. More power do you for having a good one from back in the day.

It looks like I replied to one person incorrectly (っ﹏-) .。 still learning the website. I do not have Gumshoe D:, think my only light gun game for NES is Duck Hunt tbh. xD I'm currently running a gcomp, it hurt the wallet but I did beat a price increase. I will say it is for sure built well at least, I couldn't notice a decrease quality with it.
