@sephirothansylar, yeah those have red bean paste, but they have sesame paste ones too. I like the sesame better, not a huge bean fan.

@sephirothansylar: The delicious bean paste is called "anko", which is made from azuki beans. And as Xueli said, it's known as "red bean paste" in English. If you like those sesame balls, you should try some hana daifuku sometime.

I can't tell the difference between yakisoba, and takoyaki. Can someone explain, so I don't feel like I'm being forced to buy weird stuff after I converse with the nice Free Sample lady at my local Japanese grocery store?

Yakisoba is fried soba (buckwheat noodles) and takoyaki is fried octopus spheres. They both use wheat flour, are fried, and use very similar seasonings (Worcestershire sauce like). Wait, you have: 1. A Japanese Grocery Store and 2. Free Sample Lady at said store? Jealousy is the feeling I'm getting.

I live six miles away from Little Tokyo, so yes, I am very lucky.

I love to cook Japanese food but I hate it at the same time for 2 reasons, ingredients are sometimes a pain but local Asian Market helps. And I am a perfectionist when it comes to cooking like that.

I cook Soba, Somen, Natto, Japanese curry, and many other Japanese foods 2-3 times a week. It's pretty hard to find the ingredients. I have to drive 1 hour away to go to a Japanese store just to buy the ingredients. I usually buy 400 dollars worth of food every 2-3 months so I don't have to drive that far so often. It's worth it because I love Japanese food.
