ok but both had iron deficiencies, would you say both don't need supplements?

In a research study they give all the results tehy got. The result of veg females to veg males they provided was not the main focus of the study, but just a health profile. They have provided the comparison of vegetarian females to non vegetarian females as well, which is what I was commenting on.

im saying the women brought down the over all score mostly because of menstration, not the diet. all women tend to be lower.
for the us didn't it show that male vegetarians and male nonvegans were both 0%?
it shows both groups are some what deficient and while the vegetarians were higher. so would it not be fair to say both need supplements?

Yes an omnivore who has iron deficiency does need supplements. But omnivorous food has a significantly less chance to cause anemia. And we dont recomment a healthy patient eating an omnivorous food to have supplements in general

it doesnt really though. both groups should be taking supplements.
no diet is perfect, supplements are always necessary
hell, even meat is fortified artificially with things like b12
so you cant say only vegans need to supplement.
so can we move on to heart disease? which id say it much more important

@momoichi but that argument does not work when the vegetarians and non vegetarians compared both are females. And iron deficiency affects males less than females since they are not in the risk to have it.

my point is it isnt the diet if male vegans are fine
why would the diet be fine for us males but not us females?
and both need to supplement anyways, so how does this detract from the benefits of veganism?

@momoichi The study does not aim to say that the anemic patients in the omnivorous group should take supplements or not. But it aims to show that taking an omnivorous diet can have decreased chances of being iron deficient

and veganism decreases substancially the risk for all cause mortality, which I would say is way more damning for which is healthier

@momoichi U can think of it this way, if a healthy menstruating female is sticking to vegan diet, then she would be significantly more succeptible to anemia, compared to a healthy menstruating female having an omnivorous diet. That is what the results of that study shows.
