eggs? well i said before that im fine with indigenous people eating meat if they need to to survive. if you have chickens in your backyard do you really think im going to tell you not to eat its periods?
backyard chickens dont really give that many eggs naturally, only around 250 a year, as they grow older the less eggs they produce
so if you have a pet chicken and your treating it well and wont kill it when the eggs go dry then im fine, seems like a symbiotic relationship
health on the other hand would be why some vegans would be against it, as eggs are not good for you. im really iffy on getting into the egg debate because im not too confident in my knowledge and id have to do research as i debated, but i could give it a try?
so i guess id have to ask how you eating factory farmed eggs has anything to do with people in poorer countries that keep normal chickens? factory farming chickens, even ones just for eggs and not meat, is torture.

I agree that there are some horrible practices with farmed animals, caused by a skyrocketing demand not being able to keep up with supply. The only way to fix that is to kill off about 50% of the world's population but I digress; My arguement is focused on that everyone being forced to convert to vegetarianizm would be all around better than everyone being forced to convert to veganism.
While vegans would be forced to eat oats and carrots, vegetarians can eat a whole platter of spaghetti and marinara sauce. Just think about all the possibilities with pasta if humans can secure a healthy symbiotic relationship with chickens. Veganism would be a scorched earth approach that in my opinion, would be inferior when compared to a life of vegatarianism. Yes, it would be more difficult to secure a healthy symbiotic relationship with chickens, but it can be done if we all work together. Factory farmed eggs would have to go, and much more people would have to individually own chickens as pets, but it's possible. So Lamby, if we were to just raise our own chickens in this hypothetical world where meat eating cannot exist, I think you would agree with me that vegetarianism would be the superior option to veganism. All that would have to be secured is the welfare and rights of the chickens. Included are pictures of what can happen with everyone being vegetarian that you cannot get if you are vegan:

(fake vegan meat) sphagetti
This is why I think it would be better for the world if everyone would convert to vegetarians, not vegans. Now I'm hungry...

im afraid im only here to debate the ethics of veganism, maybe some environmental and health
im not really here to go over the hypothesis of what would happen if we implemented veganism world wide, as that is a discussion we do need to have
but that would be a discussion on how it could be implemented, not a debate
i dont see why you have to eat the eggs of a chicken you raise. personally im allergic to eggs and i actually do want to raise chickens when i have a home of my own, so i will not be eating the eggs and will most likely be throwing them away or giving them to family
i guess i would say that you have no moral obligation to own an animal to ensure its wellbeing, and that as chickens need a lot of space if they were a common pet they would likely end up without the proper means to have them as pets
so to clarify, your point is that we should keep chickens as pets to protect them? im not sure why you cant keep a chicken as a pet and not eat its eggs, which would still be vegan and personally what i plan to do
as i said before the major issue most vegans have with eggs is the fact that they arent healthy, like nearly every other animal biproduct. vegans mostly just believe that theres no reason to eat animal by products
so i guess my point is you can keep a pet chicken and be vegan, as i plan to do personally (cause chickens are adorable)
